so as many of you know, i have had my car at a local tranny shop for some time now. First he quoted me that Monday. However, he did not pick up the car until the Monday after bc they were running behind. Said by the end of the week. The week comes and goes, i call halfway through the next week...they are behind, by Monday for sure. Monday for sure comes and goes, and the end of the week it should be done. That was the end of last week, i told him i am going on vacation to Canada for about 2 weeks. I call today and what do i get? "Go on your vacation, it should be done when you get back" Well there goes the summer i wanted to spend driving around in my t-tops. Is it just me or is this completely ridiculous? I would have done it myself if i had the tools to do everything, but all i have is a ratchet set the basics. Not enough to do a tranny swap, just a tranny replacement. uhg

I should have done that weeks ago, but i'm leaving tomorrow anyway. So i wont even be around if somewhere gets it done faster. If it's not done by the time i get back that is the 1st thing on my 'to do list'

I got fed up for a 4 day wait and told the guy to either fix the problem or i'm taking it to another mechanic (2 hours before the shop closed) - and sure enough he replaced what he thought it was. I don't know how you feel after weeks.. I envy you, you have the patience of a rock.

i had my trans compeletly out, back in, back out, and back in again in 1 saturday. just need the right tools and some friends to help out. your "mechanic", seem like more of just a parts changer to me.

I agree, take it somewhere else. I know you said you aren't going to be able to drive it anyway but if god forbid you ever have a problem with it, how long will it take them to make it right, if they do at all. RUN!

I don't understand what's taking so long. I swapped out a TH350 for a 700R4 into a 71 Nova with my dad in about 6 hours on a lift... hardest part was balancing the new trans on the trans jack lol.

I think I saw the car move one day but for the most part, its sat in the same spot. I think they might be a little short handed over there though.

They are short handed, and i've been to them before without this problem. They say their parts supplier is screwing them around with some odds and ends. But its the fact that he quoted me a time that is NOT EVEN CLOSE to what it is actually turning out to be. I'm hoping this is a one time thing, my dad had our van in and our of there in one day before, and my cousin had his Del Sol fixed on the cheap there as well.

I just had to end my camping trip 3 days early due to rain (tent collapsed, not a good time) and my cousin lives right next to the place. We drove by and it's up on the lift as we speak. Idk if they're open sundays but im assuming monday it should be finished. Thank god, something seems to be going right this week haha
