Sunday morning is going to be bad. High tide mixed with storm surge = major flooding.

Well, this cut my week at the beach early and I'm home now so I can pull the boat out of the river and take the dock apart. My boat doesn't have a bilge pump so it's probably wise to take it out of the water. The boat ramp down in Beach Haven was crazy today with lots of people taking their boats and toys out. It's amazing how bad people are at backing down a perfectly straight ramp! They would never make it down our ramp on the river. Looks like it's gonna be an interesting weekend, need to stock up on beer and ice just in case the power goes out!

Nope, just the big parking lot and building, look closely and you'll notice the gigantic hydrogen tank in the middle of the parking lot lol. There's also a tank of pure ammonia at the rear of the building, plus some other really nasty gases in the building(silane, arsine, etc). Company also has the other building directly behind here on Belmont Ave.

Wow, they're predicting the Delaware river to come up 20-22 feet from where it is right now. We're not even at a normal low summer level so this could get ugly. I pulled the boat out today and took the dock apart. I would guess about 1/3 of the boats were pulled out today so quite a few people are going to be fighting with boat and docks on a raging river. My boat has no bilge pump so it's a no brainer for me to pull it out. The pontoon boat guys don't have to worry about the rain like I do but the high river will cause problems. I think the power outages along with the flooding will be the biggest problems, but 9-12 hours of steady wind with a wet ground will cause lots of trees to be uprooted even if it's not 100 mph winds.

i live right near the river so i'm curious to whats going to happen. usually bound brook floods, SBB a little bit, and canal road over near schoolhouse. but now that bound brook has that flood gate, if its functional right now it could just be worse in those areas, or even new areas, the river will def get higher than usual with that gate.

Unfortunately you are screwed. Go to 130 and take that north, or a combination of something like that. Rt 1 is closed just north of Ridge Rd?

yeah there is a good sized creek back there that overflows. The company I used to work for had their claim department in the back building in the lower floor on Princeton pike just north of 95 (so basically right behind joes is creek, then the building I'm talking about). We had a similar storm then and the river just poured into that building.

I've been out of power since 12 noon. Sump battery backup gave up at 6, ran through 2 car batteries and am running an inverter and charger now to try for another 6. For those that went to the duke island meet- the river flooded the entire park right up to the entrance gate.

Bayville. Just south of the Toms River on Barnegat Bay. It's far nicer.

to stay on topic, it took me 2 hours go get to Roseland from my house this morning, solely due to traffic on 80/280 since I knew what roads were closed. Had to rip up carpet at my grandma's house across town yesterday afternoon so I was out and about fording rivers.

Still at work here...been here since 4:30 yesterday. Should be going home tonight at midnight. Our lab is closed but it's been a crazy busy day. Lost power briefly this morning, lost both of our remote access servers, lost the server that contains the share drive for all of the lab administrators....and on top of that someone approved a delivery for 40 cases of printer paper this morning, so we had to un-sandbag our loading dock and carry all the paper out of the back of the rental van it was delivered in because the delivery company didn't want to take their box trucks out due to the flooding

2hrs from Old Bridge to Somerset this afternoon, there was a bad wreck on 287 and they shut down all lanes to land a Medevac chopper. Only way to get here was 18N to the turnpike N, then 287 to Exit 10. All the other routes were flooded, I guess 18 is still under water.

Thankfully no flooding or damage to the house. But No power in milltown. They are saying went won't have it for 5-10 more days. We run our own independent sub-station that is literally 10yards tops from the river. So that was the first thing to get flooded. Ill post some pictures when I get power back. Thank good for my blackberry its my only connection to the outside world.

Looking good here... lol yesterday around the time the rain stopped and the wind picked up, I was riding around with another worker and the perfect song was playing (no homo).
"Cause now im knee deep in the water somewhere
Got the blue sky breeze blowing wind through my hair"

When the rain was coming down, no trees fell. Mainly branches, flooding and erosion. After the rain stopped and the wind came, we were hitting dead ends on every road. Pretty sure on our route me and the other guy found a total of 9 trees blocking the road with power lines. Unfortunately I didn't have any time to get pictures yesterday, snapped a few today:
http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/1743/0828111140.jpg

This road is pretty much washed away for the last 100 yards. One guy lives at the bottom of the road, he had 4 feet of water around his house. He said his basement was flooded to the ceiling.

Took me 3 hours to get into work this morning. Walked in at 10:45 AM. 20 min (normal time) to get to Rt 80. Then promptly parked and moved at a snail's pace until Exit 4 on Rt 280. a full hour longer than yesterday. Got my keyfob. I'm lucky I have a 10 minute drive to work and no real flooding issues to deal with at all. The rivers looks to be going down fast so that's a good sign. It looks like the brooks, creeks and streams seem to be the biggest problems as they are not draining out as fast as the rivers.

Oh boy, keep an eye on the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. Some of the models are showing a tropical storm forming in the western Gulf and then coming up into the US and dropping a bunch more rain on the northeast late next week. At the same time, the current tropical storm in the Atlantic is heading towards the east coast and there's a chance the 2 could meet up in our area. We don't need anymore rain right now! :-x
