Pretty sure it's just running off of compressed air, it's not actually a running engine, just a model.

That one looks likes its on compressed air. But there is a website where a guy made a v8 with a real roots style blower. That actually created boost and worked. he had on his website how he did it. Working as a machinist it wouldn't be that hard
