I know theres a few Metallica fans here after all the talk of who was going to the rock last time they came around. Has anyone been keeping up the the astonishing guest lineups theyve had all week?
From King Diamond and Mercyful fate, to Rob Halford, to Jerry Cantrell, to Jason Newsted, to No leaf clover w/ apocolyptica just to name a few. Now tonight's the last show and they just announced for the first time in 27 years Dave Mustaine is joining them for a 5 song Kill Em All set, the album he had 150% involvement in writing before he got booted from Metallica.
Im just beside myself and totally plan on picking this up on DVD. It will be the first time Ive ever wanted to watch a full concert w/o being there...

Actually Ron McGovney was there too (the original original bassist who left before or right after Mustaine was kicked out). They had everyone and anyone who was ever part of metallica on stage rocking out and thanked them all for the contributions. Well except Cliff of course.
Trujilio played the first half of Pulling Teeth out of no where as a fill while they were waiting for someone to tune up and Hetfield started crying.
O and they played Orion live for like the second time ever in 30 years.

Watched the Metallica documentary on VH1 classics a while back and never really knew how much being fired from Metallica two times had affected Mustaine. IMO Dave is Megadeth and is far more talented than Kirk anyday. Megadeth has put out great album after great album, where as Metallica ruled the 80s and then began to decline, and now "Lulu"???????? Im also looking forward to watching this on DVD from start to finish.

Yeah it ****ed with him pretty bad Id say. I was talking with a guy on another forum and I think newsted leaving the band really ****ed with them. If you look at 99/2000 right before he left during the Mission Impossible 2 and S&M they were starting to come out with some really good new stuff.
Minus Human, No Leaf Clover, and I Disappear were really good new songs that seamed like they were heading away from the bluesy 90s sound and towards something more metal.
Then Newsted left and the St.Anger abortion came out.

LOL!!!!!!!! "the St.Anger abortion came out" very true!!!! Aside from one album put out from Dave, they all are great, even the new one!!!!!! Both bands went there separate ways and we have great music from each of them. If all of them swallowed some pride and just PLAYED. History would be made!!!!!!!! WAY too much talent there on both sides to be wasted. NOTHING against Lou Reed but.......WTF? Hey James and Dave, swallow some pride and give us way more than we could have EVER expected back in the day!!!!! rant over
