I doubt it. I think you will need a street tire with at least 100 treadwear

I went last year to NJ Motorsports. Definitely a good time. Wish I did more prep before I went, my car was not up to snuff.

I really want to go to this, even if I'm just a spectator. Looks awesome. That means any NJFBOA people, let me know if you want a copilot

I'm still waiting to hear back on this, but IIRC you can, but there is a competitive part of this that if you are interested in has a tread wear minimum like 180 or 200. But if you don't care about that part I think it does not matter. But I'll try to find out

optima last year and the year prior had a minimum tread wear of 200 for tires.

Found out you can bring what ever tires you want, but if they are under 200 treadwear none of your times count for points

points or no points doesnt really matter to me just looking to have some fun if I go. Just saw the date I dont think my new front penske shocks will be deliverd by then orderd them yesterday. Looking like it will take4-5 weeks to get them.

I just came from Run to the Coast and my friend blew through a half a set of street tires for the event. He said he wished he knew that you could still run R compounds as he wouldnt have killed the tires like that.

I would go...however, its Easter weekend. Not that I care much about Easter or anything since I'm not particularly enamored with the whole religion concept. But Mom and the rest of the family are doing things so I may be stuck here the whole weekend. Not to mention I'm running papers at 1:30-4am so even if I did manage to get up before 11 by the time I get there it will be half over. Unless I went Saturday, but the Autocross at Giants Stadium and NY Auto Show are closer.

I'm really happy the way my car worked Saturday. Considering my tires & wheels, I did ok, and the car ran fantastic. I now know some basic weak spots to concentrate on before I do it again. I'm liking the front wheel camber change in this pic. It's going the right way :)

2nd half the day the the auto-x was converted to the "Start Stop Squared" competition.

two cars launch off on mirror image courses and like a drag race, one car stays and the other car is eliminated. In this case, the course was setup as follows: Both cars launched off like a drag race (street race style start) and at the end of a roughly 400ft course they made 90-degree turns heading into a slalom course that ended up with a “stop box” that tested the car’s binders.

This was so much fun. Once I finally got the hang of the end with the u-turn I ran a few pretty good runs. I had that 2010 beat but I made the sin of looking at him and I blew out the end of the box! Later as my tires got gooey I just tried to power through it all with hilarious results!

you might not be allowed w/o a roll bar. NJ has all sorts of rules it seems.

I remember going back and forth researching about autox and it seemed I could get away with it since I'm so stock. I'd be curious if the rules for this are much different, or if I could.

Yeah I asked about taking the Solstice last year and I got a solid "NO". We could do the auto-x and the speed stop challenge most likely, but not on the track

What about T top cars? I was told by the guys who run the high performance driving school setup (HEPE? something like that anyway) that T tops are considered hardtop cars and are allowed on the tracks. Not sure about run to the shore though, I'd love to do it when I get mine done. May think about getting wider tires/wheels for the track. Maybe ZR1s. I saw I just missed out on a set on here for a killer price.
