ok first off yes, i do work at a jeep dealer, but i dont have work till tommaro and id like to get some opinions.
so i finally got my jeep on the road today after fixing a little problem(TPS) i take it out for a ride and my trans is acting up pretty bad. it doesnt shift itself until redline, so that leaves me cruisin at a high RPM. i tried manually shifting it and it is the same verdict. anyone have any expirience with this in there jeeps? it doesnt slip at all. it just doesnt like to shift.

Unplug the main connector going into the trans. Then start jeep and put it in 1st. then prceed to drive manually shifting. If you manually shift it with harness unplugged it is electrical/sensor/solenoid problem. If it doen't shift, than its mechanical,ie: stuck valve,etc..

TV cable is too tight, binding, or disconnected. Since you just had the throttlebody off to change the TPS I'd look there first.

i was thinking it had something to do with that. i driven it around my block numerous times and it never did it. i swapped the whole TB accually off my friends truck and now it does it.

Ah, definitely check it out then and make sure the TV cable is hooked up correctly and not too tight. Good luck!

:werd: No problem! Hey, which Jeep dealer do you work at? My wife has an '03 Liberty that needs to get the balljoint recall done.

so i started it today, and the Idle Problem was back. so i switched TBs back to the one it had and drove it, it eliminated the shifting problem.
but not im back to the idle problem:facepalm: any ideas?

Carbon build up? Keep throwing parts at it?

What's the "idle problem"?

wont hold an idle, sometime wont even start without giving it gas. but if i hold the rpms at 1200 or any were else itll stay all day.

I'd say that as well. Start by cleaning it. Can you reset the IAC and see what happens then?

Any luck with cleaning yours today? Another idea - you can swap the TPS from your friends TB into yours and see if that works?
