so i have a 6AL ignition sitting around from when i had my 85 mustang. i've seen a lot of threads about it on here, just had a couple of quick questions.

first i know they sell a harness for it so no problem there. when you hook everything up, does it affect the computer or stock ignition module in anyway? how does the comptuer tell the box to retard the timing when it detects knock? i have the lt4 knock sensor and module.

so basicly is it just plug and play or do i have to program anything into the comp?

this is obd1 lt1 motor

The 6AL AFAIK cannot retard timing withot an additional module. Its just a piggy back to the stock system that will supposedly pulse the coil a few times when the PCM goes to pulse it once.

I mainly used mine for a spark rev limiter vs stock fuel cut out limiter, and the ability to run an aftermarket coil.

The 6AL box is not that intellegent. You need an additional retard unit. As Matt said, it shoots multiple sparks instead of one.

The stock knock sensor and module will work as originally intended. As stated, the box pulses the coil and has a rev limiter.

so just plug and go...thanx helps.

now to anyone that has one installed in there car, where did you mount it.
i had it mounted in the engine compartment in my mustang and had to move it into the cab due to water getting into the box

also i have the adjustable rev limiter box instead of the pills. do i have to do anything to the comp to eliminate the stock fuel cut out?

The adjustable limiter should plug right into the MSD6AL box. As far as stock limiter, you need to tune it to some rpm way past the MSD6AL limit.
