February = north meet. The weather will likely be less conducive to bringing cars out. So Brian (Blackbirdws6) had a good idea. Let’s go go-karting at V-17 in Maywood.

STANDARD GO KARTING - $14.99 per race** for all ages -57" minimum height

** DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIREDRaces are roughly 7 min long. The time is pretty good as most people’s arms are exhausted by the end if they are really manhandling the cars. They have food on the premises and the pricing was reasonable (read: not $20 for a burger, $10 for a hot dog etc).
Track Rules:
- Drivers must be above 57” tall and not taller than 78”
- Weight limit is 250 lbs.
- Drivers must wear closed toe footwear, or they will not be allowed on the track.
- To drive at full speed of 30mph, participants must hold a full drivers license and be over 18 years of age.
- Lower speed races up to 22 mph are available for anyone above 57” and without a full license.
- Drivers are not permitted to drink alcohol prior to driving the karts.
- When in the pit area and on the track you must comply with safety briefing instructions and obey all verbal and signaled commands given by V-17 staff.
The Cars
The high torque electric motors achieve 12 hp powered by 4 12 volt car batteries. The chassis is hand built and welded from 30mm chrome molybdenum tubes, giving it excellent flexion and torsion qualities. Rubber mounted sidewraps give extra side impact protection and prevent wheels from becoming entangled. The Asmo electric motor is mounted behind the driver in a low position. This unique design gives the Bowman Storm great handling qualities, better kart balance and improved braking.
And there is an arcade and lazer tag for those so inclined, and Jungle Jerrys Safari and the BounceArama for the kids.
