View Full Version : Borrow/Rent Engine Hoist?

I am really not sure which forum to put this in... sorry if this is not the correct one.
I need to borrow or rent an engine hoist, I'd rather check here to see if anyone has one up against the wall in their garage that they'd let me borrow for a 6 pack vs. going to Home Depot.
I live in Northern Burlington County but am all over the area for work and can pick up at your convenience if you have one. I only need it to replace the oil pan gasket and will have it back to you in a few days max.
Thanks,
Chris

Shame you’re not closer or you could definitely use mine. (08080 if anyone needs one)
edit - I don’t know why I thought Columbus was much farther than 45min. If you can’t find one closer you’re more than welcome to grab it.

I'd appreciate it, I work in the Raritan Center so pick up/drop off would be easy. That said, I'm looking to get this done sooner rather than later so I'll most likely go rent one in the next few days if something doesn't pop up.
Thanks,
Chris

I'll see if I can arrange some work down in Vineland over the next week or so. If so, I'll definitely take you up on the offer! Unfortunately, I think I'll be up in North Jersey a bunch this week. What time of day are you available for me to pick up and drop off if I can work it out?
Thanks,
Chris

I have one you can borrow, western monmouth, just north of great adventure, 30 min from columbus on rt 537. I need to clean out that corner anyways :) I have a leveler too. just need to be disassembled/assembled to transport.
I also need some help this sat for pushing my SS back in the shed once I pick it up from the body shop in raritan.

Kevin,
My son plays soccer at Bob Smith on Saturdays (half way to GA from my house), I can meet up with you before or after his game to help with the push. If we can arrange some time tonight/tomorrow/Wednesday for me to pick it up, I'm sure I can also return the hoist on Saturday as well.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, John B (Pampered Z) has my hoist and you're welcome to borrow it if you need to. I'm not sure what his schedule is going back and forth from central PA and Ewing so we would need to check with him.

Thanks for the offer Jeff (and good to "see" you after so long). I've been PM'ing with John a bit, I'll find out if I can work something out with him or not. Regardless of which hoist I borrow, my offer to help Kevin out stands.

Raritan, as in by Duke Island Park? Which shop are you at?

Chris, which ever hoist you decide is fine with me, just let me know which way you are leaning :) I will be working in the garage tonight and maybe the rest of the week (warm weather!) on my 51, so tonight is an option. PM me if interested. You have a truck, right? It is not going in a car trunk, its the big heavy non-folding kind :D
Bill, it is Steve V's. I've had it in there since 2010. Its not working out like I planned :(
Scott, hopefully going up there sat morning weather depending, but since my driveway is on a hill, need help pushing it in :) I have your mobile, I might give you a call sat. thanks

Kevin, I have an SUV... so we may have a problem with transport. I guess I should have clarified that it needs to fit into the back of an Envoy.
The offer to help push the car still stands anyway, I'll be about 10-15 minutes away from Great Adventure for a 1:30 soccer game on Saturday. Let me know if I can help.

What I have un-bolts into 4-5 managable parts, but the base is about 70" long and 3.5" wide (it fits with some room in my shortbed truck). its been in the back of a suburban, but I do not know how big an envoy is.
Looks like this one (just not as nice :))

Actually, I'll likely borrow a friend's Titan to come pick it up. Hadn't really thought about how big that would be relative to the back of my Envoy (mid-size SUV).

chris, a titan will work, just send me an email (in my user name) and I will reply with my phone number for you to call. Then we can talk timings and directions. I will be home after 6pm.
Scott, have you been to my place? I will call you when we are heading back and we can work out the timings. it will take us a while to load. Have to put wheels on it 1st. thanks!
tonight is not good, rain and fog. tomorrow should be nicer.
base is 3' by 5'6", so put the seat down and measure :)

Hi Kevin,
I am here!! Crazy at work though, I'm about to head out of my office in Edison NJ for a 3pm meeting in Wesport CT. I'll be home very late tonight but am planning on getting the hoist back to you tomorrow night (got the truck lined up and everything). I'll give you a ring when I leave my house, probably will be over there about the same time I was there to pick it up last week (7-7:30pm).
Thanks again!
Chris

Just wanted to thank Kevin again for the hoist. It made my job a lot easier and a lot safer!
Can't say it enough either, you have a phenomenal "gear head" setup between your garage and shed!

Pics would be worthless too! Just a ugly 3 car garage with a lift, big ass compressor and tools :) But here is an old photo when I installed the lift and before the 69 got restored.
