Looking good man... you own all the awesome tools I guess lol.

Lt1_8U
02-05-2012, 09:50 PM
thanks, lol ive acquired some nice tools. i purchased the sandblaster from harbor freight and it actually works very well for smaller stuff, they also sell the sand there as well. it was around 90 dollars for the blaster and a larger jug of sand. granted i have a large compressor so it works better than if you had a small HP one.

WOW! That's fast progress! Looks really good! Your patch is very well cut and fit. The pic might not have done it justice, but it looks as though you didn't do a lot of grinding to bare metal before you welded. Any more repairs like that, make sure you grind at least a half-inch in from each edge to be welded. You'll have a stronger weld and less sizzling and spatter. Unless it's just a bad picture angle or my old eyes are bad. Either way, this project is awesome! Keep up the forward momentum!

Lt1_8U
02-08-2012, 07:59 AM
thanks! i should have went farther with my grinding, it splattered a little towards the right side. i have to put another patch in because he did a hack job rectangular opening for the shifter linkage. i will be sure to grind farther out and see what difference it makes. thanks for the tip!

Any reason you went with a 69 front bumper?

i like the parking lights a lot better on the 68-69, they are smaller whereas the 70 and up are large. its not anything special, just a 4 cylinder car so i figure im going to do it to my liking rather than back to its original self.

thanks! hopefully by end of summer now im just saving after i paint the front end. ive got a crank, heads, block and some accessories, i need to buy a trans, run my fuel lines, machine the heads and buy a rotating assembly.
