Spent several hours this afternoon at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philly. Incredible collection of vintage road racing machinery mostly displayed in period diorama settings. Far too many great cars to list them all, but most major US and European Marques were represented. Among the most memorable were: CSX2287 the 1st Shelby Daytona Coupe, 1966 and 1967 LeMans Ford GTs, two 60s era Corvette Grand Sports, an Aston Martin driven by Moss, Brabham, and Jim Clark and Vic Elford's famous 1970 Porsche 917. All that and a great BBQ lunch by way of a birthday gift from my kids. A Checkered Flag kind of day!

If you get to Philly don't miss stopping in to see this place. They also periodically exercise selected cars on a lot behind the museum. The schedule of what gets out and when is posted on their website.

I'd love to go take my cousin. We don't really know much about racing history, but I think it would be a good way to gain interest in it for both of us. Might have to make the trip down one day. Thanks for the heads up!
