I feel like I'm forgetting some stuff for my H/C/E swap, what am I missing?:bertstare:

Full gm h/c bolt and gasket kit
Timing chain
Oil pump
Header bolts/gaskets
02 extensions

I haven't ordered this stuff yet but :
Comp trunion upgrade
Motor mounts
Pushrods(waiting for a measurement)
02 sensors(what brand is the best again? Bosch is bad right?)
Belts

Should I get any other sensors? Should I do a water pump while it's apart(car has 88k)?

t cover & oil pan gasket
oil filter
oil
coolant
160* t-stat
I would also put a set of ls7 lifters in it

Why not get arp instead of throw away bolts?

Like said above
Plugs
Oil/oil filter
Coolant
160* thermostat

Valve springs
Ls7 lifters
Upper and low coolant hoses
Water pump gaskets
Arp longer crank bolt for easy install
Not sure what that gasket set comes with but front timing case seal
Valve cover gaskets
Valve seals
Larger injectors

The headers going to be egr compatible? otherwise you got that non sense to worry about unless thats gone already?

I did my head cam swap at 105k now have 115 8)

That was a small concern of mine but it could last 500 miles or 20,000 miles as long as I check/change springs and keep up with maintenance. I'm hoping to start a 370 or 408 build at 115k if I keep the car that long, which is why I opted for gm bolts instead of arp.

I have Spark plugs/ wires
Already thought about Hoses/belts

Edit how well does the stock balancer hold up? When should I look for an SFI approved balancer?

I could be very wrong but I think that more or less depends on the RPM you turn. I mean the SFI balancers have a safety rating because they hold up to a ridiculous RPM (I think they get tested at something insane like 15k RPM).

sfi balancer is supposed to be used 11.49 and quicker iirc. You use aftermarket dampers to reduce engine harmonics for a given rpm range. Ati makes great pieces.

Thanks for clearing that up... I purchased one but I had no idea why I bothered

do NOT use "Professional Products" SFI dampner... i did and it came apart with street driving less than 200 miles....

If you plan on a 370 or 408 build, ARP head bolts could be re-used. Ive done head swaps on my car with both GM replacement and ARP bolts and I can say that the ARP bolts are much easier to torque. They're also nice to have in the event something goes wrong with your install and the heads need to come off again.

Also add a decent torque wrench to your list, rtv sealant for the front cover and water pump gaskets, razor blades. You might also need a press or vice for the trunion upgrade.

Out of curiosity, what heads did you go with and chamber size?

I'm not installing this stuff, so I don't need tools. I went with advanced induction 226cc 799's milled to 60cc for 11:1:0 with gm head gaskets. The cam is a 226/234 .600 .600 at 114. Wish I went with a a cheaper set of heads and a bigger cam, wish I knew I could reuse the arp's, I would've got them..

You can order the ARPs and return the GM stuff.

cheaper heads with a bigger cam would prob be slower than the combo you went with. Mid sized cams with good heads and compression perform very well, especially if you're looking to keep it streetable.

I'm aware of that but I think of the $800-1000 I would've saved I kick myself..

If it makes you feel any better probably could of saved that much doing it yourself to 8b

Just messing better to get it done right then risk it. Either way good luck.

Better to do it yourself so you learn how to repair it when it does screw up. It will screw up.

Dont know if anyone has said this yet but how about a Fuel Pump? @ 88,000 miles I would be more concerned that my stock pump would go out before anything motor wise!! My stock pump went out at 90,000 miles on my LS1 and on my LT1 at 70,000 miles.

I'll be doing a racetronix kit ASAP even though I'm not doing a h/c set up in this car since its a daily and I know I'll hate it.

Confused.. So your not doing a Heads cam swap on your car but your asking what your forgetting for your Heads Cam swap??

WayFast84

I was going to do a heads cam swap until I applied to schools which freaked me out about driving up to 70 miles a day in a 13 year old car let alone with h/c.. I'm doing bolt ons now and building an lsx for my 84 with my parts and tax moneys.
