I see these cars every day at work...they're really solid cars. Certainly better than the Cobalt it replaced. Best of luck with it!

Did GM throw in the optional booster seat so you can see over the steering wheel?

Congrats!

You clearly didn't test drive, the seat is not all the way forward and the steering wheel is normal height. :-P

Nice..i've been looking at them too. Want the 1.8/6spd manual basic one b/c i'm a cheap bastard and 42mpg is about 4x's what i get now...looked at them yesterday as a matter of fact. Good luck w/it. Its got the same type of dash as my wife's new equinox...for a small car 1 of the best interiors by far.

That black Cruze looks great. I went and test drove one about 2 weeks ago with a friend as they were looking to replace their S10 Blazer. It rides, stops great, and has a lot of room, comfortable to sit in. I was turned off by the lack of acceleration power by the 1.8 with the 6 speed auto. It seemed to want to run 4000-5000 rpms before shifting just to run with traffic. I didn't have high expectations with respect to power, I bet the 1.8 is a bit more fun in the Sonic. I hope the 1.4 turbo has a better powerband for the Cruze, it sounds like a nice setup. The 1.4 leaves more options on the table for an aftermarket tune in the future as well.

Kasey, have you driven any GM car with the 6-speed auto yet? It's going to take some getting used to.

The whole 'drive by wire' thing on the 4cylinders are weird sometimes. (due to not a lot of torque..sometimes feel what appears to be a delay)..not so much on the 8's though.

i don't think that is the DBW doing that. I think it is the trans. I think.

i have almost 16k on my cruze and no real complaints. One just needs to understand that the car is NOT a sports car and will not perform like one. its not a civic si nor a wrx . i have one piece of loose interior trim and had to bring the car to the dealer for a tsb about a bad thermostat. i have 2 more years left on my lease and will turn it in only because i plan on buying a 2014 ATS-V.

Whats the average gas mileage around town you guys get? Thinking of picking 1 of these up but i can get a 1 year old malibu for around the same price...its bigger, has the 2.4/4cyl...and i don't have to be relegated to get the 6spd manual, so the wife can drive the 'bu.

The Cruze comes with a 6 speed auto or manual.....I'm 99% sure that you aren't forced into a manual with any trim line on the Cruze.

^ i know that, but if i am getting a 1.8, its going to be a stick...fun factor and little more pep. The 'bu's only come automatic.

First tank, with gas milage being the last thing in mind/not caring about it, I got about 28. My dad's 08 malibu with the 2.4 gets about 18.

that's impressive. that should increase substantially too after weather improves and motor breaks in.
