Priced aggressively!
Selling or trading my 86 Firebird. I bought it about 3 years ago, from the original owners daughter. Started life as a 305LG4 matched to an Aussie T5 and aussie 9bolt posi rear end. Car had 53k miles on it when purchased, is t-tops with ws6 suspension package.
305 was replaced with a high output 383stroker, eagle iron bottom end, super victor heads and victor junior intake. AED modified holley 750 carb on top. Compression is 10.5-1, motor was dynoed at 505hp and 495tq, very flat power curve. Transmission is still the aussie non wc T5, I've had a few transmission builders tell me these suckers are tough, I would be inclined to believe them haven't had any issues trippling the power. Replaced the rear with a 10bolt and detroit locker. Suspension has been upgraded with upper and lower control arm, welded in sub frame connectors, billstein race shocks, wonder bar upfront. Tires are Mickey Thompson ET drag radials 295,55 R16 out back and some summer tires upfront. Have another pair of tires to match the front and some salad shooters sitting on smaller radials. Exhaust is a mufflex custom bent y-pipe single 4' with a ground dump behind the rear, really nice exhaust system.
No rust, was garage kept in Hamilton NJ 08619, now located in Bordentown NJ. Car has been street driven and is a blast to drive with the t-tops off and windows down, turns a lot of heads. No tire kickers or joy riders, serious inquires only
$4,500 (with the trailer), I have about $17k into it over the past few years but I need it gone, open to trades
Thanks for looking,
Tyler

I have couple questions before I decide if I want to drive up there to take a look at the car. 1st off I am interested so please dont take these questions as me being a ass.
You say you have 17,000 into the car but from what you listed you have done I am having trouble seeing 17,000 into that car. I just dropped a 383 LS1 motor into my T/A a couple years back and the motor cost me 2400 for the longblock. Sounds like the rest of the drivetrain is stock.
You swapped a 10bolt in the car. why? Is it a 7.5 or 8.5 inch 10 bolt?
Thought 3rd gens had issues with a 350 and t-tops mated to a 5 speed. Thought all the 5 speed cars were 305 cars and ttops couldnt be had with a 350. If that were the case then how could a stock 5 speed handle the power of a 383 stroker when it couldnt handle the power of a L98?
I am interested so please dont take this the wrong way. Just trying to get all the info I can being the car has been f/s since Feb..

No insult taken, I wish you were correct and I had less into it than that :) I have owned the car for a few years now and as every car guy knows these things are just money pits
I tried to gauge some rough figures of what I have into the car to help answer your question.
Car- $2,000
Paint- $1,500
Wheels and tires- $700
Hood- $400
Brakes- $1,000(re-did everything master cylinder and slave cylinder all shoes done twice)
Rear 8.5 10bolt- $500
Suspension- $1,200
Exhaust and Hedders- $1,500
Engine Block- $2,500
Heads, intake etc- $1,000
Cam package- $500
Carb- $500
Dyno & Machine Shop- $1,500
Car Trailer- $1,500
That's pretty close to $17,000, I was trying to guesstimate as best I could. To answer your question about the T-tops I have taken every precaution to make sure this car can handle the added power and not blow the t-tops out. The subframe connectors are both bolted and welded in for maximum effectivness. The torque arm, lower control arms and panhard bar are all in place to make sure the body stays as rigid as possible. With that being said a regular hardtop non t-top would be best but I built this car as a fun street car and track car. The car was originially a 305, I think I mentioned that in the original post, the transmission is not a standard T5 it is an austrailian T5 packaged with the ws6, buddy who has a trans shop in pa said they used nickel when making the trans' and as a result they are a bit stronger. As I've said I've been running more than double the power through the car and it hasn't given me an inckling of problems.
I promise you I am not offended in the least, the reason the car has been for sale since Feb is because I originally posted this as a feeler and that I was more interested in a trade. I have since moved to south jersey and it is slowly becoming more and more of a necessity to sell the car. My worst fear is that I would neglect it and all the time and money I've spent on it would have been in vain.
Thanks for the interest,
Tyler
Where is the car located now and when can we come down and take a look at it?

I am having trouble finding out any info on the Australian T5. Only thing I found Australian on a 3rd gen were the 9bolt rears. From searching on google and 3rdgen.org the only 2 stock t5's that came on a 3rd gen were a borg warner t5 which was rated to 280 ftlbs of tq and a borg warner world class t5 which is what you probaly have and is only rated to 300 ftlbs of tq. Thats the reason a stock L98 couldnt be mated to a 5speed. The L98 made 340 ftlbs of tq.
Most of the WS6 cars ie GTA's got the Australian 9bolts and a World Class T5 if it were a 305.

Hey Tyler,
I'm interested in the car, but i'm not going to waste your time or mine until I can come with cash in hand. Unfortunately i'm in the middle of buying a new house, so I can't spend anything until after closing (tentatively 11-15-12)
If the car is still available by then (doubtful) I'll be in touch.
