I had 3 credit cards at the start of this year with decent credit lines 1500-2500. I closed out one a week into jan, and just closed out the 2500 one. I still have one and my car loan. How badly would the recent close hurt my credit?
I remember being told that you ideally want 4 lines of open credit at any given time(a car loan being one) even if you don't carry a balance on that credit card or such. If you have a card that doesnt charge an annual fee, Id say just keep it and maybe use it once every few months, then pay it off in full when you get the bill in order just to keep it active.

it really doesn't matter how many lines of credit you have, its the unpaid balance of those lines. credit cards can have a more impactful meaning to your report than a car loan. credit cards are considered a "revolving" debt and you want to keep that number down
