So racing yesterday and my posi seems to be working and not working(one wheel burnout). Do these ss posi's not hold up? Is this a common symptom? 2002 SS SLP Camaro w/ exhaust and headers.

I'm really thinking the car doesn't even need a burnout with the MT DR tires. I 'm gonna try a simple dry hop next time.

The factory posi's are know to do that. If it happens more often, try filling the rear without the gm additive. If it still peg legs ... Upgrade

When your doing a burnout, is your car moving sideways, or getting sideways? Your Torsen Diff may be disengaging from the lateral pressure, makign it a one wheel wonder, at least that's what i can only think of.

Car stays perfectly straight. Did a one wheelie twice on Sunday. Tried it on my parking lot at the shop and it was fine.

I did put synthetic gear oil in and added a tube of additive. I wonder if that's the problem.

The problem is its a 10 bolt!!

The problem was the synthetic and the posi lube. Many have told me not to use synthetic and the additive. Changed back to reg rear oil and all is well.

I was gonna say get that synthetic out of there. A buddy of mine has a 2000 SS 6 speed. He put Royal Purple in the rear, 3 weeks later it went boom. Shop said the use of synthetic caused the failure, but lied to the warrantee company so he wouldn't have to pay anything for a new rear :)

No failure. I put Amsoil full synthettic rear lube and posi additive in. Right after i did that i had a one wheelie burnout sporatically. I talked to a few peeps and they all agreed that synthetic gear lube and a posi additive will cause slippage and to not do it. I put reg rear gear oil in and it it's fine.

A customer of mine just had his Dodge truck rear rebuilt and they told him to never use a posi lube in it?

Sorry elle, I was referring to green's post where a shop said synthetic caused a failure.

In your case I have heard of that happening as well due to insufficient friction. Even talked to a guy at Randy's about it.

Yeah, as elle said it couses slippage in the posi unit, well it slipped and then got jambed up somehow or another. I'm just going off what the shop said, I did not see or wittness anything so who knows how true it is. What I can say is that the rear was fine before the switch to synthetic
