So what am I suppose to do if I cant pass inspection? The car i bought had a fake sticker and its going to cost upwards of 1000 to fix.

Fix the car so it will pass inspection? What's wrong with it that's going to cost that much?

Tune it for no cats and hope they don't check or pony up the money for cats. Really nothing else you can do.

They are getting harder to find to do a blind inspection, unless you are real buddy buddy with them. I asked the place we took all our work trucks to once and his reply was "I got a lot invested in this place to do that".

I had the same experience. I was reffered to a place known to look the other way (for people they trusted) via a really good friend who was in with them and was turned away. They said if it had cats on it they could probably take care of me, but no cats is a big no-no. I talked to the owner and he said NO WAY is it worth the risk anymore.

Yeah, risking the fines & penalties for some kid off the street isn't really happening anymore. Thank god it's still cool to remove cats lol.

anyhoo, maybe you can get a cat setup form the junk yard? try car-part.com

you could always weld cat shells over the pipe to make it look like they are there. but that is still illegal... just sayin'

I forgot to mention I got turned away with cat shells.

Yes, at state lanes. At private shops, they have to lay on their back or put the car on the lift. Roll the dice.

which car is it? one of the ones in your sig?

I went through state inspection with just heat shields tacked on a few years ago. I have since added high flow cats though.

the shops that only do OBD2 cars might not look. they just want the money. so no CEL no problem. if you don't say "hey could you sneak me through i have no cats" chances are they won't check. if they do and they say you got no cats play dumb.

technically once presented for inspection if they see that they have to fail it for that. Not that they all follow that rule but be prepared for having the issue documented.

And then you'll really have to pony up and buy cats.

theres a company out there that make fake cats i was looking at them a few weeks ago on a website cant remember the name and they where only like 60 bucks a piece. you just cut a section out and slip these things in and your done it looks like it has cats but you still get all the benifits of being catless. by the way i dont know whats going on at these inspection stations but my z28 passed last june with tinted windows but they just failed one of the pickups at my job for having tint a few weeks ago. O yea if you already failed at a state inpection center no privet place will give you a sticker with out fixing the problem first because it will come back to them if you get cought

Not for nothing but bullet cats ain't exactly big money. I put on two three inch magnaflow metallics for $150.
