Saw what looked like a nice Firebird (Firehawk maybe?) on rt 206 outside Newton last night. Black, looked clean, t-tops. I didn't have time to stop and check it out.

Just posting in case someone is looking for this style car.

The car was For Sale.

I think I know exactly which car you're talking about. Its outside of Hampton Body Works just past the Lowes. It is for sale but I haven't looked at it either. It does look like a clean car but the Trans Am script on it is a personalized touch. Its an LS1, and if looks can be believed its a WS6 car.

the add has a Firehawk listed... thats the reason for the differant hood and 'trans am' script

The Ad is a completely different car. I can see if I can get some pics. The wheels are chrome 5 spoke wheels that are more in line with the factory styling, it says Trans Am on the side but its in yellow or something. Definitely a WS6 hood. In fact its raining out and I've got nothing better to do, I want to trade a short oil filter for a bigger one. The car is literally like 1000 feet from where the Advance is. I can grab a few quick pics and post them with more info if I can get it.

Ok guys here you go, sorry for the one crap pic but....window up pics never come out right. They guy who owns and runs the Hampton Body Works shop on 206 north of Newton (just past the Lowes) is the owner. Hes selling it for 7,000. (6995 to be specific) Its a '99 model, black, has different exhaust tips, aftermarket wheels, front fascia has been changed a bit as the bird center cover on the front bumper isn't there. LS1 and auto trans. I don't think its a true WS6 car though as it lacks the badging on the rear that I usually see on WS6 cars.

Appears to be very clean.

That is a very good one, I didn't really press him on that. Figured others could try. Considering the bumper cover is missing the bird, I'm wondering if it was replaced......

From what I've heard that car sat for the past few years. Too bad it's automatic.

Never seen the back of one or how they're attached so....yea lol. But still could mean the bumper may have been done, you simply don't know.

yeah not trying to show you up or anything, but they easily detach, which is funny because when i had my trans am i had no idea how to take it off either.

You should be able to tell if there was bodywork done if the seller doesn't disclose that info. Hood fitment looks pretty good but as mentioned, its missing the TA sideskirts. The passenger tail light has a black horizontal line. Not sure if that's just from the pic.

Who cares if its from a body shop? If they are competent at their trade, there is nothing wrong with the car. My friend straightens frame out to tighter tolerances than the factory but I guess that's nothing to shake a stick at.

not to mention that black is the easiest to tell when the paints dry. even though its all the same color different cars have been exposed to different sun patterns and fade at a different rate. its easier to tell on a black car if anything has been replaced because its almost impossible to match blacks.

Nothing wrong with it as long as what was done was disclosed and if repairs were made, they were done properly.

This shop's owner is a dirt bag. Quality work with a piss poor attitude to scheme you.
