I'm getting a "link Error" when I try to connect a scanner to my car.
I've spent the last week on google and LS1tech with little to no results.
Can any one tell me something besides "bad PCM"?

Car runs fine, abd inop and TCS lights are on and I just wanted to see what codes they where throwing. If it's a easy fix great if not I'll do the ABS delete mod. But I'd prefer to keep it if possible just because I don't want to loose my cruise control permanent.

car is a 1998 Trans Am.

What kind of scanner is it ? I dont think a faulty PCM will stop a scanner from connecting. But not to familiar with how these cars communicate.
Sounds like the key isn't on or there is an issue with the connector from the scanner to the OBD II.

Alot of scanners will not read out ABS faults anyway.

The lights are always on as soon as you start the car and stay on or they come on while driving?

Yeah thats a good suggestion. Forgot about the fuses. Check that first

check all your fuses, had this problem with a trailblazer, the accessory fuse was out

Yeah fuses where my first guess, they all looked good and I even replaced a few that looked a bit rough.
The lights are on as soon as I turn the car on, I've checked the sensors and wires and they look good.
The rear tires are wider but same height but that wouldn't trigger until the car was moving.
The scanner is a ACTRON CP9580 AUTOSCANNER, it is capable of reading ABS and a\Air bag codes.
I've used it on 3 other cars including a 01 Z28 and it works fine even pulled a ABS code.
I've tried my scanner plus 2 others and none of them connect to the car.
I've checked under dash and the 5 wires connected to the back of the port are all connected and not frayed.

The car does have a viper remote start/alarm installed, I dunno if that would interfere or not.
