2 points and between $85 and $200. Insurance goes up too most likely.

It's been awhile but I got a careless about 8 years ago. Went to court (by myself with a clean record) and walked out with no points but about $450 fines/fees.

redsoxsstink
11-11-2012, 12:30 AM
go the DMV's website they will give you all the details on violations.try and go to court and get it changed to unsafe driving, its gonna cost about $600 but eliminate points and insurance upcharges. this will only work if you havent done this already and dont already have alot of points. if you already have one or both get a lawyer and pray

Call & set up a court date to go in & plea not guilty.
Talk to the prosecutor & he'll most likely knock it down to Unsafe Driving, which is no points but a $420 fine + court fees (roughly $30). If you've been found guilty of Unsafe Driving within the last 5 years, though, it will be an additional $100.

For reference, in New Jersey, it takes 1 year to erase 3 points off your license.

Good luck with your decision & court date.

25 + speeding usually gets slapped along with RECKLESS, not careless. Reckless is 5 points and carries loss of license. Been there, done EXACTLY that, got all 3 tickets.

Eat the careless and be happy. Prosecutor is going to talk to the officer anyway and ask if he will allow the state to lower the fine, I doubt you'll be able to plea it more

you live in nutely, avg speed on the parkway above say exit 130 is 70mph anything faster you have to be weaving which warrants a reason for a ticket. and there is tons of construction going on, lucky you werent in a construction zone. parkway south of that is different, its much more roomy and you can go faster still not making it any more legal.

You were driving at a much higher rate of speed than the posted limit. Yes it was a high rate of speed. You 100% got off easy. Remember an officer has discretion, meaning he can get you for everything he can think of or not give you a ticket. Based upon what your actions were you got off with a slap on the wrist. Trust me, he could have written you at least 15 tickets. You have no idea what you can be ticketed for

He cut you a break. I have court tomorrow for 79 in a 50. 25 over is automatically reckless which is 4 points I believe every additional 5 over is another point. I have no priors but have a lawyer and Im looking at a a couple paychecks worth of fines and HOPEFULLY now points but thats up to the judge.

WayFast84
11-13-2012, 11:41 AM
It's not that big of a deal. Yes he was speeding but I'm pretty sure everyone who drives on the parkway could get a ticket for going 27 over. There are parts with a 45mph speed limit, and If someone was to actually do 45mph it would probably be more dangerous than going 27 over.

Another thing. How easy is it to be driving on a highway and look down at the speedo and see you're doing 80mph? Hell, on 300+ mile trips I've looked down and I had been doing 90.

Learn from the mistake, pay the fines, buy a radar detector and use cruise control if you have it. Now everyone stop condemning the kid like you've never made a mistake.

I find it damn near impossible to do anything but stare directly out the left side of the windshield when I am on the parkway. All the driving straight and turning slightly requires absolute attention so as to not cause a chain reaction in the traffic flow and begin what most would consider World War III.

Be careful with pleading tickets down to unsafe driving. Although they are zero points by themselves, the 4th one you get is worth 4 points. Ask me how I know!

If you want to go to court you need to call them to put your name on the docket for a specific day, they aren't going to send any letter. When people just show up on the day the ticket says, those people have to wait until all the other cases have been called.

JUST CALL

Jersey Mike
11-26-2012, 04:26 PM
Keep calling the number on the ticket during regular business hours. Leave a message with your contact information and that you'd like to enter a Not Guilty plea & arrange a court date. Make sure to leave your contact info; They don't have CallerID Missed Calls.

Once you set that date up with the clerk, you'll get a notice in the mail within a couple of business days, as well as a half-dozen letters from local law offices looking to represent you. Keep an eye on the mail for all of those.

soooo let me get this straight. a guy was high, came up to you on the left hand side, and spun out trying to make a turn next to you. the only way possible i see this happening is that he came up on the left and tried to cut a right hand turn in front of you and hit you...because if he was trying to make a left he wouldnt have hit you at all.

either way im calling BS on this for two reasons...if it really happened the way you did tire marks wouldve confirmed your story and there would have been irrefutable physical evidence left on the street to reconstruct the accident....not only this but you dont get tickets for child endagerment...you get arrested and charges brought onto you.

in my eyes the only way this can make sense is that you were street racing another car, one of you lost control, the police officer sniffed it out at the scene and busted you with what you rightfully should have. ive seen nothing from you on this board to make me think otherwise, because out of this whole thread...nothing has been your fault because other people go 40 mph faster than the speed limit and they dont ever get pulled over.

There's a difference between bad grammar and worse grammar than my cousin who's six. Some sort of effort at puncuation and capitalization might be nice when posts go more than 2 lines.

Careless driving is 2 points i believe, and mine was a 100 fine in new egypt. It shouldnt carry a surcharge either. Ive gotten 2 careless drivings in my life, one was in a wawa parking lot cause i didnt stop at a stop sign and the other was 80 in a 55, both of those incidents the cop didnt want to look at my gold card haha

Other than that dress nice and go early to talk to the prosecuter to see if you can knock the fine down

With the advent of technology, it's hard to imagine many jobs where you won't be communicating via email to someone or other, or not typing in any capacity.

No sense, court room won't open till 845 so you really gain nothing. Just be there by 845 or a little earlier.
