All new Gen V 4.3 V6, 5.3 V8, and 6.2 V8 mated to 6spd autos.
No power, towing, or FE numbers yet.

Let the nit picking begin.

Love them both. Love the power station with USB plugs and an ac outlet. And I wish mine had that double glove box

That step in the bumper is pretty neat too.
So happy they kept the dials for climate control.
So much interior cubbyspace!

They look pretty good. I think I like the looks of the GMC a touch better.

Enormous! Love what they did with the cockpit. A good balance of simplicity, modernity & utility.

I think they both look like flabby hunks of whale ****

Too much positivity in here. I don't want Al to get soft.

...

Although I do really like them both, and think both are a big step forward.

I don't like how tall and squared off the front end is, the Ford is very similar and I don't like that look. I'm not sure what made both GM and Ford go to that type of front end but there is probably some new regulation they had to meet.

They gotta do something about the Chevy front end. Hideous.

Wheels and grill/badge area on the chevy look odd to me... the GMC looks good as hell, nice work

I am a little disappointed in the Silverado... I thought they did such a nice job cleaning up the front on the 2011+ Heavy Duty Trucks, and then the 2014 just looks too over done. From what I see so far my next truck will be the Sierra, but I will have to wait and see the HD's

I don't like either one, though the GMC does look better then the Chevy.

I dig them both...nice but will probably be crazy priced for a z71. Looks like there will be halo type lights like the camaro too.

I like the Chevy over the GMC, just my own preference. The Silverado reminds me of the third-generation C/K trucks with the stacked headlamps. I'm interested to see what the power, price, towing numbers are.

any word on the new chevy "ss"...the car that is based off the g8/caprice? I think i might get rid of my 12 5.0 for one if they come with a stick.

Not feeling this squared off thing. I like the step on the bumper and some of the interior though.

Might show up at Detroit along side C7. Or New York, it's up in the air at this point. It will be close to the start of the NASCAR season.

Is it just me, or has this redesign been the least radical change in recent memory? It looks more like a refresh at first glance, but then you see its just similar design cues. Anyone?

Hideous. Front end reminds me of our 2010 F450 SD mason dump at work.

Looks like the results of a newer full size Ford breeding with a GMC Canyon. Not sure what I'm more disappointed in, the 2010+ Camaros or the 2014 trucks. Big and boxy is not the look for me.

As said on your FB, little disappointed they did not come out with a brand new design vs a wash off of previous years and Ford.

Edit: I know, my opinion is null since I don't own one.

When will the diesel colarado come to America Al?

I agree, more of a subtle facelift than anything. Good looking trucks and I do like all the power outlets. I wonder how much the 110 supports?

very nice cockpits especially compared to my dads 12' f-150,
but body wise i prefer the f-150.
i didnt read the article and am assuming it will get the new lt series engines.

Putting the two together, everything is different. Obviously the design cues will be the same.

The chassis is 90% the same as the GMT900 only because that chassis is arguably the strongest out of the 3. Outside of revised stuff for the EPS, new engines, and some lightening here and there, under the skin is almost the same.

The upgrades came in all new sheetmetal, all new interior, electronics, and a few other bits and pieces.

When you guys say "brand new design", what do you exactly mean by that? Ford, Dodge, and GM have all kept the same basic design of the trucks going with minor evolution over the years. I don't know what you guys mean when you were expecting an all new design.

Sheet metal is totally different. Outside of the fact that they share similar design cues (grill design and logo) they look different.

GMC has had a rounder fender flares and whatnot for a while, but now they are following the Chevy's boxed fender look. Probably saves a few sheckles too.

I like the new look but is it me or did they shrink the rear door and make the bed bigger? Other than that I like it but the 4-door Chevy's are just big enough as it is, I hope they didn't make them smaller.

Al,
I know you said no power numbers yet, but is there any information out there about the new V6? Will it be based off the V8s like the older 4.3 V6 was?

BigAls87Z28
12-15-2012, 08:48 PM
I thought I said it before, and it's in the link, but the 4.3 is based on the Gen V engine, not the old 4.3. They wanted an engine that could hold up to the abuse. The 4.3 will be available in all cab/bed configurations too. Should make near 300hp.

Actually, the true crew-cab rear doors have been extended. GM has always had the smallest rear seats in the biz, so they fixed it this time around. That must be like an extended cab? Not sure. They made it a big talking point about the new trucks have the best rear space in the industry now.

The new trucks are nice but the pricetags are insane.

they dont have any photos with stacks yet ?

on a more srs note, i love the look of the new gmc. the chevy front end is a little odd to me, but the gmc is on point. curious on how the dually is going to look with the "squared" wheel wells
