Would you want to help plan and run a meet? We'd like some reliable veteran members to step up and take the reigns and organize and run some meets. If you are assigned a meet, here is what you are responsible for:

• Planning/Responsibilities
o Be active in Meet Planning sub forum
o Work with us on dates & times and locations
o Work out all location/meet logistics, activities parking requirements, etc
o Act as main point of contact for the club and the meet location
o Create and be active in official meet thread. Includes meet details, pictures, maps, etc.
o Center point meet advertising efforts
o Maintain NJFBOA calendar
o Supply regular status updates and communication on meeting planning status, open questions/issues, etc.
o Possibly attend occasional planning meeting or participate in online meeting
o Document meet post-mortem – what went right, what went wrong to help with future planning

• Meet responsibilities
o Attend meet, arriving early before other members
o Act as meet ‘person in charge’ at the meet – organizing folks, working with location, parking concerns, etc.
o Handle meet sign in (more on that soon)

2013 Meet Schedule (all tentative at this point), to give you an idea of what meets are available.

Date (rain) Region Location Coordinator
Jan 19 WC Firkin Tavern Scott
Feb 17 N TBD TBD
March 17 (24) EC Chapterhouse(?) TBD
April 7 (14) S TBD TBD
May 12 (19) EC Circus D/I(?) TBD
June 29 (7/6) N Chatterbox(?) TBD
July 20 (8/3) WC Duke Island/Cruise(?) Bill
August S TBD TBD
September TBD TBD TBD
October WC Flemington Show TBD - PolarBear?
November TBD TBD TBD
December TBD TBD TBD

The order is based on prior years and does not move in exact order to allow for certain events such as avoiding Belmar in the summer and the Flemington car show in October. But things are not written in stone yet, as you can tell from the last few months of the year. So depending on who steps up and meet ideas the meet order could change.

We may also alter the meet location schedule if we have planning issues. For example if no one from the north steps up and a number of qualified people from central ask to participate, north could lose a meet.

So you want in? Let us know.

Looks like sept, nov, and dec are open for location? I see paintball in njfboa's future!

I'll throw something out there, and leave it up to Management's discretion:

North meet. Rockaway Mall. March Madness. Buffalo Wild Wings. March meet. I'll volunteer to "run it," if need be.

Positives:

Abundance of parking after the gift-giving holidays.
Buffalo Wild Wings. Food, beer, and an abundance of TV screens.
Rockaway is a great location. Member density, travel distance, and surrounded by major highways.
No conflicts between missing a game or a missing the meet.
You have options. No one will be sitting there bored with fingers crossed; Either you'll have the excitement of watching the high-stakes games with friends, or ignoring those & treating it as a regular sit-down meet. The weather will also be starting to turn for the better, at this point, so more "parking lot" time will be an option as well. Pick your poison.

Here's the problem I see with this though:

Time in-between meets. This would need to take place on one of the four following weekend afternoons: Saturday/Sunday March 23, 24 (Third Round) or March 30, 31 (Elite Eight). Being that the February meet is currently set as the 17th, and April for the 7th, the best of those 4 dates would have to be determined, or another meet moved. This is a problem is for the club to consider.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

You will have to talk to bww. They may not want a large group there for a long time with the games on. That's one of the reasons of the January meets date being in the day with no football

Did a little thinking and while a South meet doesn't always work out, perhaps I can handle the August meet and we can have it at the scheduled 24 Hours of LeMons race. We are still planning to be there one way or the other so for those not racing, there is enough "fun" things to do rather than sit and eat.

If you guys in green & orange give the go-ahead, then we can take it to the club and see if the interest is there. If all parties are satisfied, then let it trickle down to me and I'll spearhead the details with BWW/Hooters/Whoever.

I would say go to bww for some insight before riling up the members. I want wings now just discussing this with you

Btw. I love your idea. I'm just thinking of the issues

I was able to speak to the manager at the Bridgewater location and was able to cut through some red tape for my Wife's last bday party we had there since they don't take reservations. I'm confident we could make that work if you need some help JM.

The issue is the major sporting event of march madness.

Make the meet a little earlier than a game or we are there for a certain period of time so they can turn the tables over. Or just do it another month. You might as well not do any place with a TV if you are concerned about the games.

I'm not. I like the idea. But he seemed like he was planning it around basketball. Some joint with a tv isn't the same as a company whose whole business plan is sports

Neither of you are wrong. I'll make a few phone calls and see if there are any loopholes. It's far in advance, but if I can get the issues addressed and everyone feel confident, then we'll go from there. While I'm not craving wing sauce yet this early in the morning like you are, I do agree that it's best not to tease anyone until the logistics are worked out.

good idea. you'd have to find out the spectator costs, time, where we can meet and all that jazz. I was thinking about November and altering the weekend only rule

the problem is the timing. if they expect a full house i don't think they are going to reserve tables for us. we ran into that in November as well. The dates are bad as things stand now too. But I will give the schedule some thought tonight. If you want to call and ask if they will put aside seating for 20 during march madness, go ahead. Make sure you note who you talk to.

There has been a lot of push back by members about going to chains.

That won't take me much time at all and if I recall from last time we attended, the price was reasonable. It will just be a matter of who wants to make the drive. When the time gets near, I will make sure to get all the info.

If Mike's idea of BWW doesn't work out, The Tilted Kilt in East Brunswick is also a good option. Lots of TVs, bar, good food, and doesn't have that "chain" feel to it.

Just a thought on the Chatterbox date, if it falls on a busy show/cruising weekend, the place can be dead. Only a few cars (very few sometimes) and it can be a bit of a bust. The meet we had last year was not so bad. More showed up than I thought anyway. But there are days when that place is so packed there are some real nice rides parking in the non cruise field. Problem is, you'd never know when those days are.

I would totally be down to help with the Circus meet but it falls the week before I come home for the summer :(. If Bill needs a hand with the July meet (particularly the cruise/show part) I can help there. We need to avoid the parking mess we had this past year...

I would be interested in planning South meets....

Got an Idea for the April meet. We can do a Sonic drive in down here in Cinnaminson and after we eat there is a Indoor Go kart place in the same parking lot. Its 20.00 to race which is 15-20 mins I think they told us. Looks pretty fun and there is alot of interest from the local guys down here. My family and some of my friends will be trying them out in the next week or so to see how it is.

August we should keep the Texas Roadhouse meet in Millville as we always get great turnouts for this one, and then cruise over to the Lemans race afterwards..

December I can try again for Tony Lukes in Turnersville.

Ok I dialed back the off topic stuff:

Point of this thread is not suggestions on where to go, if you can help, who's meet is bigger.

See post #1. Would you like to be responsible to plan/organize/run a meet from end-to-end? Simple as that.

Also if you'd like to run a 'side meet' which is in addition to the regular schedule we might be open to that idea. A meet like that would not need to follow the the usual meet requirements. So that opens up out of state, paint ball, etc.

Just a reminder on monthly meets....

*Must be appropriate for all club members and their families.
*The location needs to be able to seat/serve us as a group.
*It needs to have ample parking or agree to save enough spots together if parking is tight (and still leave room for other patrons). We initially plan 15-20 cars/20-30 people for monthly meets. Parking in another location is not an option unless arranged by location management.
*We need to be able to hang for a while, at least 3 hours.
*The place cannot be too hard to get to, like 24/7 snarled traffic
*It should not in a “bad part of town”.
*Must be cognizant of traffic issue (ie no beach points in the summer, etc.)
*Must be in NJ

If there's any in the Edison south Plainfield area let me know and I'll try and get off from work. Dad and I are usually among the first ones there anyway.
Plus the guy from Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza, across from Menlo Mall said he's still ok with opening a little early for us if we give him enough notice.
