Mild weekend coming up... why not show your car off and help make a special young boy's day!
Hello to all car enthusiasts. You have an opportunity to help a car loving child with what could be his last birthday. We're sending this to help eleven year old Stephen Schully of Frenchtown NJ. Stephen has SMA type 1, a condition that has rendered him in a wheelchair with limited to no movement. SMA (Spinal Muscle Atrophy) is an affliction that often when diagnosed in baby’s limits life to 2 years. Stephen loves life and is also an avid car fan.
We are looking for a minimum of 10 cars to attend his birthday party on Sunday, January 13th. The time is from 4-6pm at the Baptistown Baptist Church at 1040 County Road 519, Baptistown, NJ (setup for the party will be at 3:30). We'd love for some of the car community to come together and give Stephen a great birthday.
Thank You.

I'll be in Atlanta, or I'd be there in a heartbeat. Regardless, I'll be posting this everywhere.
I've seen a few of such events before. Is there some sort of general mailing list we/I can get onto that you know of? Either way, keep the events like this coming!

FYI it's a MAX of 10 cars, and they already have 5 thanks to yours truly.

You guys are the ****.
I genuinely wish I had something worthy to bring out there--This project jackstands club is getting old.
Good on you guys, BLS & Nick.

Doing my best to make it but I had this Sunday pretty well booked. Sounds like they will hit the number of cars fairly easily but I would still like to attend if there is room and I can get my schedule freed up.

How can the police limit who shows up to a birthday party?

Sure it is. There are tons of silly laws and things that cops do that make no sense. Plants are no more harmless than a 5 year olds birthday party :D

Show wasn't held at the person's house, as the first post suggests.

Show wasn't held at the person's house, as the first post suggests.Oh, I see, the police now dictate who can show up to a church that is hosting a birthday party! I guess they also say who can worship at said church too. :bertstare:

Wow that's pretty harsh, especially considering the event and who it was for.

This doesn't need to go down that road. Let's keep a classy thread classy.
Did anyone make it out there? Did it end with Stephen enjoying himself?

We do not need to turn this into a police bash thread. His parents may have asked to only have a set number of cars so it would not turn into a zoo with a lot of strangers at a child's birthday party.

I emailed questioning how it went and if it was a success for Steven. Will report back when I hear something. I don't believe anyone I know ended up going due to the extreme limitations.
