I'm looking to finally work on the engine part of the car. I'm looking for a somewhat low mile 2.8L . I know there hard to find but I have to try.

I'll have a 3.1 for sale in the spring

Go with a 3.1 or even try to work a 3.4 with that system. The 2.8's are very anemic for any kind of worth putting them back into the car, and since the 60* blocks (2.8/3.1/3.4) are basically the same from 1979-1995, you may have a few choices on what to put in there.

I agree, definitely go 3.1 or 3.4.

Would the comp work the same. I'm going to be using this car as a daily driver.

If you were interested in mine, I would have the engine harness to go with it too.

How many miles on the engine and does it plug right in to the car?

If you want exact mileage I will have to get back to you, but it is around 88,000. You would be able to plug and play. Trans would be available with it.

word of advice on these motors. if youre going to have one out, before putting one in, i'd change the lower intake manifold gaskets, theyre prone to failing on these cars. after you put the motor in, dont use dexcool either, that crap eats the LIMG :D

How does the 2.8l compare to the 5.3l ls in fuel efficiency ?

exhaust, fuel system changes, tuning, harness, mounts, cooling, misc this & that.

plus your v6 trans will not work if that is the one you refer too..

Well the trans is the one from my trans am and I'm going to put the diff in also. I'm not looking to do it fast but do it right . I was looking into mpg and its about the same . The exhaust that I have in the camaro is a 3" with an o2 . Yes I still need a lot but its worth it to get a v8 in there.

i mean headers, y-pipe - everything that is not behind the cat. what trans do you have, a t56 or 4L60E? the stock one from your 85 TA wont work unless you are running a carb and can get the TV cable set up properly. and I don't know if the flex plate and t/c will work. might, not sure.

do the v8, it's cool. but don't try to justify it with MPG. :)

Well I want to still be able to drive it everyday. With the v6 I was ok with the gas I was spending. And since the trans am went under water . I want the t56 but I think I have a t5 Borg Warner . I'll get what ever is necessary

Listen, drop the 5.3 plan. Saying you have a trans for a 5.3 swap is like saying I have a bathtub, now I want to build a house.

You'd have to put v8 springs in the front since there is added weight. Also special mounts to bolt it in, a gauge bezel the will work with that setup, and all the other goodie stated before. You'll spend a few thousand on a setup that would of made more sense to use that money on a z28 or trans am that has an lt1 or ls1. I didn't do a v8 build simply because its just easier to buy a car that already has a v8.

So buy a 3.1 or 3.4 and call it a day.

I came across a 2000 firebird with a 3.8 . I need a block how much would a block cost . And would It connect to the manual trans that came with the 2.8l?

No, the only thing in common between the 3.8s and the 2.8/3.1/3.4 is that they are v6s and made by GM. A 3.8 swap into a 3rd gen is pretty much just as complicated as an LS swap.

Hey are you still selling that engine? What does it come with and when can I take the ride to see it ?
