Well I haven't been around much the past couple months due to moving getting a new puppy and now a new Beater as the lease was almost up on my cruze.
I was limited to either a hatch or small suv due to having 2 dogs ( one is 40lbs the other will hit around 165 when full grown)since i leave my tahoe garaged at the detail shop and its impractical to go get anytime i want to take the pups out. I wasn't very impressed with any of the small Suv's out there so I focused on hatchbacks. The focus St was nice but I don't much for the styling and it already had interior squeaks on the test drive and even though the mini clubman and countryman were nice they are also quirky and I just couldn't see myself driving one. The wrx was also a fun car but didnt have enough room and is feeling pretty dated also has crappy gas mileage considering its a DD the 5mpg less than the others makes a bit of difference
This led me to either the VW GTI or audi A3. As you can see I ended up with the GTI autobahn. I've had it a week now and love it. Way more fun than my cruze better back seat legroom and plenty of room in the back especially with the fold flat rear seats.

Did you go with an Auto or Manual? I test drove a manual GTI over the summer and I loved it, my whole family has VW's like Golf's & Jettas. Good stuff!

It's a nice car but it screams chick car to me. How's the gas mileage compared to the Cruze?

Can't go wrong with a GTI. That is, until, something breaks.

Looks great, Rich.
Two questions:
1.) How's the fuel milage?
2.) Is the car offered as a TDI as well?

It's offered in TDI but wont be a GTI If I remember correct.

Yeah, you are right.
Methinks I'll end up in a Passat TDI.

Im averaging between 29 and 31 with a decent mix of driving (slightly more highway) I am actually really suprised I was thinking more around 25 to 27
I got the DSG thought about going with the manual being as I dont drive in traffic much but wanted Beccey to be able to drive it (the tranny is great for the price)
Billy they do make the golf TDI as well but I was looking for something a little sportier. They are thinking about bringing the GTD here in 2-3 years with the new MK7 if they do I'd buy that in a heartbeat

Why not dd the Tahoe?
Drive to much that 12mpg isnt going to cut it so I put the tahoe on Hagerty insurance and just drive it every once in awhile. I did consider selling it and just buying a new truck but Im going to wait a few more years until we buy the house in robbinsville and finish paying off student loans before having a $500 plus a month car payment.

There is no way insurance on the truck while it sits, the car payment, full coverage on the car etc negates the difference in gas mileage?
Ad leather interior to haul pups? On a car you have to return?

Its pretty close to negating it actually difference ends up costing me about 225 a month including the difference in insurance (the truck costs me under 100 a year to insure now) and im driving a brand new fun car with free maintenance for the 3 year lease. Not to mention the fact its simply what me and Bec decided on.
Didnt have a choice on the leather I would have rather had cloth but didnt pay for it so I dont mind the seats fold down when the pups are in there anyway so they never touch leather.
