If my daily driver gets scratched, I know where to go to get it painted, anywhere my insurance sends me. It's my daily driver, I could care less if the paint is slightly off a shade, or there is a fish eye in the paint etc.

But what if you have a classic car that you bring to shows that is flawless and it gets scratched. I used to know a guy in North NJ that was very trustworthy, he retired. There has to be some good places in the NJ/NY area that still perform top notch paint repairs right?

Does anyone have a reccomendation. Say the car is a 67 chevelle thats a true 138 vin 396 with 17,000 documented miles and origional and rather pristine may I say paint. Suppose it got a scratch in the hood of all places. Where does one go to have it repainted and blended so it is undetectable?

Billybobs Fast Cars in Lakewood. 732-901-1981. Ask for Bob Russo tell em Vinnie referred you. Stupid name but the work is awesome.

I doubt even the best will be able to make a perfect match to 46 year old paint in a blend job.

Lil more to that in the art of blending. Also depends how far they want to go with painting to do the blend. New paint/clear won't look like old paint/clear.

Original paint is probably lacquer, too.

Since you're in Midland Park check out The Body Works in Midland Park. The owner's name is Sam, daughter in the office is Sammi and most of their work is restorations. They are family friends and I worked for them in high school.

The guys are right...blending paint that old is close to impossible to pull off perfectly. Honestly I don't do many blends because I'm never happy with the end result no matter how good it looks.
