So a friend of my uncles has a 2001 SS Vert, Red, black leather, black top, 70k miles that currently has a motor with either a spun rod bearing or something worse, shes not sure. The car has been sitting for about 2 years under a cover waiting on repair but nothing has been done. The car does start and run but makes a "terrible noise". I'm thinking of buying it, swapping in a truck motor or fixing the current motor depending on budget and extent of damage. I think it could be flipped for a profit if the price is right.

So how much is this thing worth?? She has no idea, I have no idea. Ive been talking with a few friends, they think between $2500 to $3500 depending.

Thoughts.......

Good to know.

Also the car is in Northern Virginia, sitting for years, they want it gone...the coming with cash and a trailer part could be a big price drop im hoping

Could be a good find but if it's been sitting for years, I would take a hard look at everything else before spending any money.

Thanks for the input guys. Definitely want to get a real look at it soon. I really don't have any more info at the moment, just found out she had the car up for sale today. Received a few pics today as well, appears to have a few SLP factory options, grille, exhaust (not CME). Car appears fairly clean, no major dents or dings, brake rotors are rusted over, tires are shot, needs some TLC. I know for a fact the car was only driven 5 miles to work and back daily. Female owned and driven since new.

What kinds of things should i be on the look out for?

Rust. How old the car is doesn't matter as much as how long it's been sitting.

Vert sitting for 2+ years...inside or outside? Will need the basic things along w/the motor work...draining of the gas, replacement of normal wear items along w/braking system and check for rust/rot and deal w/any rodent issues that may have been evident. The cheaper the better to account for these possible issues and getting the car up north. You may luck out and its cheaper but from the way it sounds you have a lot of variables to contend w/.....good luck.
