Last winter was rather mild around here. The polar vortex shens is to blame for most of these winter storms. Without that cold air, a few would have been rain.

How do you figure global warming? maybe I have no idea of the concept but some of the coldest air on record has come through this year, not very warm to me.

Its not global warming, that is an old term that is no longer used. Because as you pointed out, its not "warming"

Its global climate change, so extreme sways or changes to what was a few years ago, "normal".. extreme cold, massive snow fall, or blistering hot summers.

Believing otherwise, is silly and head in sand mentality.

Aside from this heavy wet snow, I have been enjoying it all. Heavy wet snow makes my back hurt when shoveling. Paid the neighbor kid to do the sidewalk while I did my driveway. Getting a snow blower after this season 8-) It was nice out too, I had my t-shirt on, got a little sweaty

"Summer" people are such whiny complainers

Actually the science that is being ignored by the broader press is saying that unusual shifts in solar activity are lending more to the weather swings of the last few years than anything else. That will continue to be ignored because no network advertiser or political candidate has a solution to sell for the sun acting like....well.....the sun.

I just believe it is part of a larger cycle that's normal. We just been keeping detailed weather records for what? 120 years? 100% agree. Any time global warming is brought up I say the exact same thing.

And this winter is terrible. All these little snow falls and cold weather do not mix well. It sticks to the ground and does not come off!

Remember, i spent a few years upstate ny by Canada... lowest temp in those years was -28f. It got to the point where anything above 14 degrees was t shirt weather. the sad part is back then we would really wear t shirts to go out to out cars or such and we were fine.

Why not buy a plow for the jeep

Its tempting but I don't want to ruin it. Plowing beats the hell out of the vehicle especially front end components, more susceptible to rust and these frames like to rust on their own bad enough, and its a stick so I'll murder the clutch and components in short order. I do love driving it in the snow! I was looking for a cheap wrangler or cherokee with or without a plow to use but most were sticks or made of gold. I'm going to look at a reasonably priced bronco 2. My dad used to use one back in the day. Held together by duck tape, boat style gas tank in the passenger seat, and a can of starting fluid kept that baby going for years. Hopefully I can make this one lead a more dignified life

I laugh when I see that combo.

The town I work for lost four out of the five dump trucks last storm... I destroyed the synchros for 1st gear (5 speed with a splitter), one truck had the clutch explode from pushing snow back, one tore his plow and pto off the truck and one had the main hydraulic line explode. Oh and the part time guy managed to snap the shifter in half on the 2011 F450 mason dump... We covered 46 miles of road (one way/92 both) with a pickup truck and one dump truck lol.
Our roads suck to plow. A lot of the roads are built between hills and don't have lines on the roads.

As I said in another thread, my DD 2002 Grand Prix had the lower valance front passenger nose ripped out due to a piece of snow ICE that stuck out just enough from the end of my driveway. The opening now is just down to the width of the car if you pull straight in and God help you if you swing out a little too wide. You can't even move this crap unless you shovel the hell out of it when it first comes down, because it freezes at night and becomes a CONCRETE BRICK. I have become a miserable crabby bastard:evil: that has a case of cabin fever so bad I want to move out of here to anyplace, but can't because the entire country if covered in this waste. LONG LIVE GLOBAL WARMING, yeah like it will be 100*+ this summer!

I wouldn't be so grumpy about the whole snow thing if I:

A. Wasn't out of places to put it with the plow
B. Had a nice big snowblower to toss it into the woods
C. Didn't wreck my back getting my plowing ATV out of being stuck in 20+" of snow
D. All of the above.

I was just hating on the snow because my trailer, parts car, scrap metal and construction debris have all been buried under feet of snow. The truck is dug out, the trailer...well it can finally be pulled out so I can clear off the 93 z28. My massive scrap metal pile, along with a sbc 350, are still somewhere under the drifts though. And finally getting a dumpster delivered so I can empty my truck out and finish this dam reno.

im hoping the weather today clears one part of the roof. Id rather not have to climb up there. 40ft with snow and ice isn't fun especially when the roof slopes drastically to that area from even higher up.

I believe the winter has killed my fish. I have a small koi pond. Maybe 6'x12' or so and ~2.5' deep. Ice tore a hole low in the liner, maybe 9" from the bottom, and while I have not seen it yet i know it is big enough that if I fill it it drains in hours. I can't fix it now with the cold & snow. they seemed ok last weekend but this sudden cold snap seems to have frozen a bunch of them. Poor fish.

Sorry to hear that. My parents have a decent sized one, we dug in when I was a littler pal. Its impressive what those fish can survive. We've got a blue herring that likes to eye them up but so far, have successfully chased him out of town. We lost a few of the big fish from sandy, they were maybe 10 years younger than me. They make those deicer disks that float at the surface fyi. I think my dad still uses it.
