2005 Silverdo (1500). I need to replace the hubs. Anyone ever done them? How much work? Any sprecial tooks required?

Not hard. they are complete units... the ABS sensor is the hardest thing to do if its rusted.

Get the ones with the abs sensor installed. The bolts can be a bitch to get out with the factory thread locker. I replaced mine with Moog and have had no problems, yet.

Sometimes you have to use a chisel between the hub and spindle to separate it.

Prior to removing the axle nut, hit the threads on the end of the axle with some penetrating oil and a wire brush (if they are rusty/dirty). I damaged quite a few axles before I started doing this.

Great thanks!
I had a shop do them the first time @ 90K, Now at 170K and the DS is going bad agin, so i figure I'd just do both.

Its not to bad. Take off the brakes. Take off the axle nut. Unplug the abs sensor. Unbolt the hub and remove. Don't be surprised if it fights you. You might need a hammer and chisel to break it loose. Put her back together and enjoy

Slide hammer works good if its being stubborn especially if chisel room is lacking :)

that or a big 3 finger puller will get it done too. There's a chance of ripping the thing in half though lol
