So I've been pretty quiet on here for the past 2 years(school has been crazy), but I'm graduating in May with a full-time job lined up and plan on living on my own as soon as I graduate. I'm looking to find a place in the Belmar/Pt. Pleasant area and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to go about the search. I'm probably ~6 weeks away from serious apartment searching. I've been searching on zillow/trulia/craigslist as a start. At this point I'm probably looking at a studio apartment unless I can find a roommate. So, lets hear some input.

Stay away from the roommate route. I once took an apartment that I couldnt afford by myself because me and one of my friends ive known for 10 years at the time could together. it ended up with him losing his job and both of us with an eviction on our record because he refused to leave, refused to look for a new job and we are no longer friends.
the only way i would ever split a house with someone again is if the landlord charged each person separately for their rooms. just saying :D

What's your budget? Its tough around here because there are so many summer rentals. I don't know much in terms of apartments. You can probably find a decent space for around $1000/year + utilities.

as of a few years ago the apartments on 18th ave in wall just up the hill from the 18th ave/rt 35 intersection were clean and reasonable in cost.

I should be able to comfortably afford $1000/month +utilities. Obviously it'd be beneficial to find a roommate as I think you could get a pretty nice 2 bedroom place for 1600-2000/month.
Bonzo- do you remember the name of the place?

room for another?
And bonzo, is this the place? http://www.glenwallnj.com/ Seems like rent is about $1200/month so it's a little on the high end but it looks like utilities are included. Definitely in a location I like though.

Where are you going to be working? What I like about Belmar is the location to major roadways. 138 ends here which turns into 195 and many major roads T into it. Parkway is easy to pick up. I'm always on 35 and 71. Traffic can kinda get a little congested in the summer but its not terrible especially if you know what time its bad.

The company I'm working for is headquartered in Red Bank but I took a field position so I will be traveling all over the state which is why I think Belmar is an ideal location for work and I'd like to live by the beach.

For sure. The bar scene is pretty fun too. Red Bank is fun to go out in as well. Then Asbury is a good change of pace as is anything heading south along the water.
