Well, the time has come to figure out how to get a forward facing child seat in the back of the 'bird. Has anyone done this? I just stuck it in there over the weekend to see how it would fit - the seat fits well but once I buckle it down it's going to crush the back bucket. Any fathers with experience in this department? :cbrrmike:

what are you worried about, hurting the seat?
In my 2nd gen I just put them in.

it's a 4th gen with leather. I'm concerned about two things. First - the child seat won't sit level because it's too wide and will be resting on the bolsters. Second - If I force it down there's no way it's not going to eventually damage the leather. If I have no choice obviously I'll do it, I just thought maybe someone figured out a creative way to solve the issue.

are you leaving it there forever? I don't know, my kid seats in my DDs with leather and never had any permanent issues due to the chairs.
I can't speak to the part about the chair width.
i would hop on ebay or a forum classifieds and grab a pair of cloth bottoms… can be had for dirt cheap, and when you retire the child seat, you can put your originals back in

This is what I was going to say. It's an easy swap, just get a spare seat.
The bottoms are literally one bolt.
I put 2 baby seats in the back of my 02. My wife always puts a towel between the car seat and vehicle seat to help prevent any damage.

It's not my daily driver - but when I go to shows I obviously don't want to take two cars. And I have an extra seat so I was hoping to just leave one in there, I can always just take it out when it's not in use.
I was actually on eBay yesterday afternoon looking for a set of spare seats. That might be the best idea.

For what it's worth I had a set of rear seats I couldn't GIVE away. Poke around on here, somebody may have something.
