hey guys ! im looking to delet my power steering and ac . i have a 91 rs 3.1L
theres got to be more to it than just removing the power steering pump. does any one know what else needs to be removed. i know that im either going to have to get a smaller serpintine belt or add an idle pulley. by the way which of the 2 are better options ? smaller belt or add idler pulley? and if its a belt does anyone know what size or other car serpintine belt i would need to get for a replacement ? thats ac and powersteering deleted. any suggestions would be great ! also should i notice any difference in performance? even a little?

Your power steering is used at low speeds, like when you stop and try to make a turn or maneuvering around a parking lot or even parallel parking. Removing the pump will make steering the car at low speeds difficult and require excessive effort. You could get a taste for this by just turning the key on, engine off and turning the wheel. You could also remove the belt and go for a very short drive since your alternator and waterpump won't be working. That will also give you a taste.

You should leave the power steering alone and accept the fact that your engine does not make much power. Your a/c does not have as big of an impact.

you can buy an AC delete pulley.

removing the PS on a street car is stupid.

There are three types of steering you can have in your car

1.) Power, as it is
2.) Non-power, if you delete the pump and loop the lines
3.) Manual, if you remove the pump, the box, and all that and install a manual steering box.

In order of "streetability" it's 1, then 3, and then 2.

You can nix the A/C but you aren't really losing any power unless it's on. Don't jack with the steering as stated above.

You can find other ways to get power.

i had a civic way back when that didnt come with power steering and it wasnt that difficult . im not looking to do it to gain power was just going to delet because it would be one less thing to worry about breaking...... im leaking steering flid from some where i havent looked into it yet . i was just trying to see what the pros and cons are...... and apparently there arent any pros anywhere lol thanks for the advice guys. i will def leave it alone and just fix the leak!!!!

Like I mentioned:

Manual steering is not the same as disconnected power steering.

not to mention the other car was lighter and had smaller tires. and i question if it really had manual steering since i do not remember seeing any manual steering civics built in the past 25 years.

If your looking for more horsepower try adding headers and a cold air intake.

As WBT said there's a difference here. If the civic didn't have power steering. Which I have seen it had a "manual" box or rack. Meaning it was designed that way so its easier. If you just remove your power steering and leave the power box in there it is a bitch. I know from experience. Trust me keep the power steering its not robbing you of power. The a/c only robs you when on. If you really want to ditch it buy the delete pulley

Civic is also front wheel drive.... The act of driving was also helping you turn at low speeds.
