Anyone use a led bulb for their brake lights? I have an ls1 harness being installed so I have the wedge style 3057s. Is it just plug and play?

Yes. Turn signals will not work unless a electronic flasher is installed.

So kinda plug and play just need an electronic flasher. Would I have to make the 3rd bulb led also with that flasher? The 194

Is it really worth the effort to make it led when you wont even see it directly?

Worried the frosting might make the lights too dim and possibly ruin the frosting

There is a small benefit in the time difference between full illumination of an incandescent lamp vs a LED. This may or may not be worth a few feet of stopping distance from a potential rear end situation. I had LEDs in my tails before but they crapped the bed rather quickly. Due to the cost, I never went back to them. The instant on is nice though.

What brand did you go with? Did you have to change your flasher? Was it a 2057 or 3057 led?

You need the electronic flasher to use the led bulbs. The electronic flasher is compatible with incandescent bulbs.

I have used Autolumination products almost exclusively. Everything has worked well except for the 60LED towers I purchased. Vleds and superbrightleds are also well known on the market. Regarding the flasher, you need to go with an electronic unit (EL12) as Adam has already mentioned. You will need two of these, one for the turn signals and one for the hazards. My car was a late build and got the 98+ harness using the 3057 lamp base.

That one looks fine but I've never used one with the little ground wire.

You can pick these up in a local part store nowadays so no need to buy online if you are anxious to buy.

Adam is 2 for 2 today. Stock lamps behind a clear lens will look miserable unfortunately.

those lights almost call for LED panels, much nicer than individual bulbs
