View Full Version : Identifying Plugs/Connections

Car is a 1995 Trans Am LT1/T56, I'm trying to find a good way to find replacement connectors for my car as many have been broken over the years and I want to make sure I have secure connections. Aside from cutting the actual plug off, are there any good places to find diagrams and are these parts even able to be purchased individually?

Four culprits that I know need to be replaced:
1) Blaster Coil Connection (2-Plugs)
2) MAF Sensor Connector
3) Transmission Sensor (?)
4) Oil Pressure Sensor

I'd love to just get a new wiring harness, but I don't even know where to begin for something like that. This isn't a full on race car, but intended to be a full on driver, with coil packs planned in the future.

Try caspers. I bought some plugs for my Buick from them. You can also call them and they're real knowledgable.

EFIConnections, dealer, ebay, or even rock auto could be sources. There is no trans sensor, its probably a reverse switch or lock out or something like that. Post pics or a thorough description of the connector and wires and I can usually look them up. Also, shbox.com

American Autowire carries some replacements. I got my T56 connectors from them.

I should be able to strip, solder & shrink wrap to finish these off once I identify them?

Yes, some circuits like the MAF go to hot 12v and ground junctions in the harness so be careful not to remove any junction.

Not sure about the older cars but the newer stuff GM gives the connector body part number. All you would need to do is release the terminals and plug them into the new body. Would be a lot cleaner than cutting and splicing in pigtails. This would even work if you found a scrap car and snip off all of the connectors you'd need, the terminals release fairly easily and i have 30+ trays of replacement terminals if needed.

If I get a chance I'll try and get on the parts computer. Most of them are available through AcDelco.

I just got the car on jack stands yesterday so I'll grab some photos and post them up tomorrow.
