I don't see this as an issue since hardly anyone builds race cars; only street cars bro.

What makes something a "race car". If I put parts on a car and never race it....is it a race car?

I'm sorry, but that is not at all acceptable in my eyes. It might only affect a small portion of the auto enthusiast community, but it may very well be several million cars in the USA.

Next is they outlaw all aftermarket modifications - even if they don't impact emissions.

What is their angle? Are they going to send people to all the events that these cars frequent and hand out fines? Good luck with that...

Say “No” to EPA’s Threat to Motorsports: SEMA Opposes Regulation Prohibiting Conversion of Vehicles into Racecars SEMA has issued a press release informing the public that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is aiming to make it illegal to convert automobiles originally designed for on-road use into racecars, even though such conversions have been done for decades. Under the EPA’s proposed rule, it would also be illegal to sell any performance-related products for those cars. The EPA’s proposal would have a devastating impact on motorsports since many types of racing rely on production vehicles that have been modified for use strictly at the track. pretty much what road and track says is true... and technically there already is regulation in place. Legally you are supposed to run catalytic converters, and certain exhausts or parts are not CARB certified or whatever the fk its called.

by 2018 democrats will be out of office and this will be a forgotten thing of the past...because there are tons of more serious issues in the world today but the govt likes to worry about ******** like this lol

also if you look back years ago there was tons of other laws and regulations and standards that cars were going to abide by that never happened thus far (emissions related)

its just ridiculous at all that this is being proposed. I doubt it will pass as currently written if at all. This country is really starting become a buzzkill with attacking hobbies and pastimes that have made this country great for so many years. Not to mention the youth aspect of kids getting into cars and racing and modding. If you spend all your money on car parts as i know i did and most of you when you were young it didn't leave much left for drugs or booze or what ever other demons are troubling the youth today (sex changes) i don't know... lol again i don't see this as passing as its written. how come the current emissions regulations aren't good enough? if car doesn't pass no sticker... done deal no?

the EPA is a useless organization... they think that gas guzzler taxes and premium fees will stop people from purchasing cars that are bad for the enviornment... truth is when people are spending that much to begin with they dont care about an extra couple of G's...

im only 28 but today's youth only cares about listening to ****** rap and doing heroin... dead ass i live in a middle class suburb and heroin is out of control... my dad grew up in the projects in brooklyn in the 70s and 80s and its the same **** he saw then but those people didnt know any better these people do...

U have no idea how many hypodermic needles we have seen walking our dog

if I ever have a kid boy or girl u bet ur ass they will be into cars because its a good clean hobby keeps your ass out of trouble...

Useless?
EPA has been the single biggest contributor to making cars that we drool over today.

You want a 707hp V8 car that comes with a warranty and can pull low 20's MPG from the factory?
Twin turbo charged performance trucks?
Electric cars that go 0-60 faster than a twin turbo Ferrari?

Thank the EPA.

Cars are cleaner, safer, and make more power than anything that came from the 60s with a better warranty and way more reliable.

The rules are the rules. No one paid attention to them before, what's going to stop you from breaking the law moving forward? Nothing.
The multi-billion dollar aftermarket industry will continue to move forward, selling whatever people want to buy. OEs have invested billions in performance vehicles and their own aftermarket parts as well, so you think that something like this is going to slow down that gravy train?

This is akin to someone saying that some politician is coming to take your guns, so sales (and price) of guns and ammo skyrocket.

SEMA is taking a page out of the NRA's book.
