So I am looking to do a cam only sometime this summer...
but currently I am swapping my LM1 with a magnaflow catback...
To avoid taking my exhaust down a million times any harm in swapping in a 255LPH fuel pump while I have the exhaust down even if I don't do the cam anytime soon and continue racing with it ?

sounds good...not to mention it will spread the cost out a little bit...also the car is 15 years old I can only assume its the original fuel pump.

Get the Racetronics hot wire kit too while you have the tank down. Very easy to install, everything is plug-n-play

U think I really need that since im only going up to a 255 ? I would think its more necessary on a big jump like 380 or greater...
trying to keep the cost of this down within reason.

I have it and also have a 255. It may not be necessary but I figured since I was there I would do it.

You can take the exhuast off the hangers and do it that way. You don't need to completely remove it

Yep. The rubber filler tube on the 99+ makes all the difference...

based on pics I saw too it looked like the pre 99 cars had diff type of lines on top as well ?
so torn between going to the shop dropping the tank all that versus just cutting the trap door...

Dont hack the car, do it right. Its not hard to drop the tank and do the fuel pump the correct way

I think Adam has some pics of melted bulk head wires from running a 340lph aeromotive and stock wires. Stock wiring works for stock stuff. Do it all right, and all at once.

A lot of people hack holes in their car too, doesn't make it right or wrong.

Trap door for the win. If you do it the right way. Not how I did mine

photos!!
yea, I myself would NEVER do the trap door method. I've wrestled two tanks down, one from my 87 and one from my brothers 87 GTA. i know your 4th gen is different (and easier), it should only take 2-3 hours. do it the right way.

as long as I don't have to uninstall the exhaust again once I put the new one in then I will just drop it off the hangers and drop the tank

Theres a right way to incorrectly replace a fuel pump?

Methinks he was trying to cut said trap door with either the motor running smoking a Lucky Strike... or with the jaws of life
