After 20 plus years of working 2nd shift (3 pm-11 pm) I recently transferred to day shift (7am-3pm). I didn't want to do it but my position was recreated as a day job so I didn't have many options. Well, talk about shell shock! I leave my house at 4:30 to beat traffic and get a decent parking space up here in lovely armpit NJ. So I'm sitting here for over an hour before I start. Transit also has a 6am-2pm shift, but of course my department never switched to that shift. And then leaving here at 3 I'd think I'd have a jump on traffic. Yeah, right! I guess rush hour starts at noon, or nobody works anymore, or there is no such thing as shifts like 8 to 4 or 9 to 5. Every way I try to go home there is traffic: Parkway, 78, 287, Rt1, RT 9...
Many ways to go and all lanes are packed. I used to enjoy my ride in and ride home to work but now I hate it. Everybody at works says they love dayshift but I'm praying something opens on 2nd shift. This state is too dayum crowded with vehicles, and then mix in the Pennsyltucky and New Pork idiot drivers and it makes for one endless case of road rage.

I do service so I'm on the road all day at different times. Find your way to the NJTP (truck lanes) You will find some of the better drivers in the state in my opinion. HOV lanes are open during your commute so hammer down. Your good up to 80mph as long as your not on the phone.

That is NJ for you. Traffic during most times of the day depending where you are. Sucks.

I'll have to try the Pike. I'm not a fan of tolls but if it will get me home quicker n' in a better mood I'm all for it.

Welcome to driving in NJ. My girlfriend drives to West Orange from Flemington everyday. Takes her close to an hour in the morning meanwhile its almost an hour and 45 min back home.

I pay $3.00 round trip on my current tour to exit 105.

I could take 287/9/35 to get there, but that would be stupid to save the $3

Would probably be faster if she used the tow truck more often than having to deal with the car not downshifting or shuddering :bertstare::bertstare:

Just move to South Jersey so you don't have to commute anymore, they are building apartments by where I work on Weston Canal road in Somerset, you know, South Jersey.

Or West Jersey, I forget. I really like your new wheels, but not the rim part of the wheel that holds the tire on, JUST the center of the wheel

Every time I see my bosses I let them know how f'd up it is that they eliminated the 2nd shift jobs in my department.
Days blows for me.

I'd have to move to NORTH Jersey if I didn't want to commute. I work in Kearny. And I guess there must be a Somerset and Weston Canal Road by Trenton in South Jersey, just like there is a Somerset and Weston Canal Road in Central Jersey by me. Lots of the same names are used all over the state.

And BTW, did you ever get those high line, custom RIMS built that you were talking about?

No, I am talking about Weston Canal Road in Franklin/Somerset Township, right off I287, in south jersey. I didn't realize you work in Kearny, I feel bad for you now. At no point in the day, when I ever had to go in that area, would traffic ever be favorable, from 8am-midnight was always bad, lol

No I decided not to get the rim, I wanted a whole wheel, so I could physically mount it to the car

Not going all the way north anymore? That's good.

I've lived in the area my whole life and it's always been considered CENTRAL NJ. Now if you are saying you are traveling NORTH from SOUTH JERSEY, I understand. But if Somerset was North Jersey I guess Kearny would have to be considered to be in New York, which it obviously ain't. So look at a map, Jack!

And I'd bet 9 out of 10 would say a rim and wheel are the same thing, so you should understand that a rim and a wheel are the same thing!

I decided that what you consider "South Jersey" is now all of that and Central since you work in Kearny. Kearny is now Central Jersey and anything north of that is "North Jersey".

All rims are wheels, but not all wheels are rims (or maybe I am wrong). I'd rather call a wheel a wheel than call it a rim because wheel is more accurate.

Rim, wheel=SAME THING!

And anything South of Central (like Trenton) is South Jersey. So you drive from South Jersey to Central Jersey for work. I drive from Central Jersey to North Jersey for work. It's not as complicated or confusing as you are trying to make it. Just like Rim=Wheel.

Trenton to Cape May is 99 miles. Trenton to High Point State Park(look it up) is 98.4 miles. It doesn't get more CENTRAL than TRENTON. To say or argue otherwise just proves you are a Jackass!

Oh, and only a Jackass thinks a Rim and Wheel are the same thing!:bertstare:
