Atco Track Rental 2016 - Racewars VI

It is that time of the year so let's get this annual track rental moving. For those unfamiliar, I've been organizing an Atco track rental each year with help from NJBOA. This will be the 6th consecutive year. Last year was great but we had a few random walk-ons which worked out but I would have preferred to know about them prior.

The rental date is confirmed/deposit provided to Atco for Monday, November 7th. Please be reminded the rental is for cars running a drag radial or better. This rule has not been a problem in the past and has helped maintain the track prep. You do not need a Fbody to attend.

What we need right now:
- Racer deposits - We need to secure the rental date as soon as we can. Please PM me for the payment info. Be sure to include your full name, car (year, model, color) and confirmation you will be on a DR or better. If you are arranging this on behalf of others, please provide the same level of detail.

Where:
Atco Dragway
1000 Jackson Road, Atco, NJ

Racer Rental Guidelines:

- Rental starts at 9:30AM and ends at 4:30PM
- No street tires. You must be running a drag oriented tire (Drag radial, etc)
- $40 non-refundable per person/car deposit required ($400 total deposit required to book the date)
- $160 balance due at the rental per person/car CASH
- 10 cars required
- Proper safety gear required
- If the weather is poor, the rental will be rescheduled.

Chase (The_3lite) & a gentleman who follows the club on Instagram are both entertaining the idea of jumping in as racers.

The wall should be gone so I don't believe there is an issue getting around the water anymore. Not that anyone on the list will be avoiding it except for the 650.

Last few folks added to the list. I spoke with Atco yesterday and confirmed we will start racing at 9:30AM (pending the usual nonsense), fuel pumps will be open and so will the speed shop. I just need to remind them to turn on the scale.

For those racing, try to bring a ballpoint pen with you. I will be collecting the balance of funds when I hand out the tech card to each person. Atco will be walking around and collecting the tech cards as they go over the vehicle.

I am glad i went. Thanks to Brian for setting this event up. Was awesome to watch 8, 9, 10, and 11 second passes alllll day long ! I took photos and will upload them over the next few days. Was good hanging out with all of you guys in the pits and by the track wall. What a blast. Man, I wish my car was that fast.

Well another rental is in the books. We had 28 racers and a nice variety of very quick cars. Big thanks to everyone who helped assist through the day and getting my cars ready while I was busy running the show.

I ran a new best MPH and ET in the Bird and Hellcat. Bird ran a 10.6 @ 140 but as usual never quite figured out the launch. Gave the keys to my dad and he clicked off a 10.40 @ 133 with a 1.43 60'..... still shocked by that and pretty sure my clutch will have nightmares for a while. Asked him what he did and he had no clue. He did manage to tap the limiter in every gear even with a shift light that comes on 800 rpm before redline.:facepalm:

The Hellcat ran 10.83 @ 127 with just a set of DRs. Unfortunately it snapped the factory driveshaft late in the day with my dad driving. Car is at the dealer and will get it all fixed. Annoying but it has a warranty. Dodge won't let me use the 4" DSS I have in the box....

All in all it was a great day and glad I could spend it with old and new friends.

Awesome to hear that the hellcat went 10.80's. You'd actually be happy not to use that driveshaft for a while. The ZF trans will learn adapts for each of the clutch circuits early in life and the adaption algorithm was calibrated based on known reactions from the stock driveshaft/driveline. As the car gets more miles on it, the trans adapts less since it will wear less after break-in. If it adapts wrong, you can have all sorts of issues. Deal with the warranty now and once the car has some miles on it you should be fine with the driveshaft upgrade.
