Being DDs are of recently talk, lets see what ideas for car DDs are out there. For those that know me, most of my currently fleet is fast & good handling sporty cars vintage and modern. Not what we would want for DD in say winter or inclement weather. Yes it can be done and I've done it in that past but...

Needs it to be practical, fun and parts readily available (a reason I'm iffy on the G8). Aftermarket support for upping excitement if needed as well. For snow I have a truck so thats a non issue. Fuel economy is on the radar but I'll be fine with anything 20+ MPG hwy. Creature comforts should be up to par with the times. My last true DD was a 97 grand prix GT. Excellent car with little issues. put 150K on and got tagged in the rear. Lacked in the balls department but handled very well with some upgrades. Creature comforts were good for the times. Would like something this level or above. Mileage prefered not to exceed 50k ish. Dont want to purchase anything 100k+ but said vehicle should be able to achieve that and more with little effort.

Car if interest are:
E46 M3
G8 GT
WRX/ sti maybe...
CTSV
M Benz AMGs or the like have been on the radar but they seem to be black holes if **** goes wrong and resale trend rapidly depreciates. However, they are a consideration.

VW TDIs aren't bad but lack in the styling department for me. 06 would be the best year for them as they went bonkers with emissions crap there after which lead to the current mess.

I keep looking at these but wondering there are other things I am missing. Style and looks are important.

Price point , I'd prefer to be under 20 but can be flexible.

Out of the list, I would recommend the G8 GT with a DOD delete setup. Aside from the body panels and such, the other parts that matter should be attainable should they fail. I sold my G8 with about 83k on the clock. The only issues I had which were covered under warranty were the passenger seat air bag sensor, left front LCA and head unit replaced (CD changer crapped the bed). Oh and I also broke the seat side plastic a million times. It's a poor design and is load bearing when you put any weight on the left side of the seat.

It was a great car with a lot of mod potential.

Have you thought of a newer ATS-V?

They are nowhere near 20k yet. Maybe in 9 years

Gen 2 yes but not under $20k. G8 GT > Gen 1 CTS-V IMO.

Tell me where there are ATS-V's under $20k and not in pieces.

Gen 2 CTS-Vs... automatic sedans are hovering at a low of 32K currently, some less here and there, some a lot more. Manual sedans are mostly in high 30s. Coupes are pretty much the same. Manual Wagons are 55k+ still.

Gen 1 CTS-Vs are 10-20k. I sold mine 3 years ago for 13k. I sold it cheap but for more than I owed. It had around 75k miles. Ive seen a few around 13-18k with under 75k miles and minor acceptable mods. Highly modded one with higher miles I've seen for 10-15k.

How bout a B7 S4?

Not the fastest car out of what you named, but its got enough power to have fun. And they sound great.

btw... QUATTRO

I have considered the RS & S4 Audis. Fairly good just hope you dont need part$. From working on them, they can get pricey.

I do like the blue G8s ... a lot. I do recall Brian stating he felt it was behind the times in the interior/ creature conforms. Guess its a trade off.

Been in the new A & CTSV cars. Love them but at 74 & 94k respectively, they are not in the playing cards. Wish they were. Have been looking at the gen 2 CTSVs also. Just tough to justify dropping 30k+ knowing it'll be worth 20k before you know it.

Any thoughts on the F series Lexus? ISF ect.
Do appreciate the inputs.

I drove a couple ISF versions. They made the right sounds and the trans was very quick. My only gripe was the interior space. It was very "fitted". My infotainment issues with the G8 were lack of Bluetooth (09.5s got it) and no navigation. Those both could be solved with a new head unit.

Yeah you can get a $100 head unit with Bluetooth now

If you like blue g8's, mine might be for sale soon.......I'm kicking around the idea. It doesn't get driven much anymore.

LS1ow - What do you see the going rate for S$/ RS4 with around 50k or less milage?
