View Full Version : Local place to buy a racing helmet?

I found out at etown that my helmet is currently expired to run anything under a 14.00 so it's time to get a new one. I can order online but rather try and buy local. I'm looking for a place with SA2015 rating to cover me for other events. I meant to hit up the etown speed shop but forgot.
Anyone know a place in the New Brunswick, Piscataway, Edison area?

Cycle gear is great. RevZilla is a fun trip to Philly too.
Jafrum for online purchases. I just got new boots/gloves/helmet there.

Thanks. I was looking for a SA2015 rated helmet to cover me for a few other types of racing. I will try cycle gear and go from there.

If Cycle Gear doesn't work go to Metuchen Powersports down the road. They usually have gear specials and I'd imagine even more specials for Memorial Day.

Yup but thanks for double checking. I've done enough reading of the ratings to know what I need.

My buddy races dirt track at New Egypt Speedway and got a carbon fiber simpson helmet....
The thing is super light and friggen sweet looking. If you feel like you just want to ball out, go for it. From what he said, he loves the helmet.

But I'm not a cool vette owner.....

Thanks for the tip. I def need to try these on with the Vette. I learned I have maybe an inch from the top of the helmet to the roof. I banged into it while moving adjusting myself in the seat so I need to be mindful the new helmet won't be any taller.

I bought my current helmet at Cross Country Powersports in Metuchen. It's nice to be able to try them on.

Cycle Gear has SA2015 helmets but no carbon fiber fancy. Cross Country Powersports doesn't have SA2015 helmets.

Decisions were made. Fits great and is very light. I wanted a lower model but the manufacturer didn't have one in stock so they provided a free upgrade to the version that is FIA certified.

Only bad part is now I am going to be extra careful with it. I figure these things are supposed to last 10 years per the cert so the annual $ vs total made sense.

I will always find justification in keeping this economy moving.

Even has side scoops too! Sadly I think the top scoop may need to be removed so I can fit under the roof. There are two stick on "spoilers" I can add as well.
Where did you end up getting it?
Purchased from Susquehanna Motorsports in PA. I used to buy a lot of headlight products from them and I still get my discount. Talk to Will and tell him I sent you if you need any racing gear. They have a pretty healthy selection.

Next mid-life crisis. The seats are ventilated in the Z so it's partially there.

I stopped by there last night to get what I need for NJMP at the end of August. He was a super helpful sales person and even stayed late since I couldn't get there during business hours.
