Close call racing

So yesterday I was out racing at a local 1/4 mile track here in Michigan and was nearly involved in my first wreck. I probably have made close to 500 1/4 mile passes in my life and this was the first time I got a front row seat to a wreck. I was racing an older SC300(possibly a 2JZ swap) and we were even until about the 1/8, at that point I noticed him walking quite a bit and eventually decided to abort the run. He ended up smacking the wall on my side and then hit his wall, all of this happening while I was 50-75 feet behind him.

Looks dangerous the way his rear quarter panel is right over the rear tires. When he launches or shifts the weight transfer causes the panel to hit the tires.

I just grabbed the timeslip, my car is #109. You can see how close we were up until he crossed sometime after the 1/8th
