i need money

i called up a guy that lives around me, who was referred to me by my parents' friend, that does work in his garage.

he said to replace the clutch (including parts and labor) it would be $1050. now, i think i can get the clutch for a little less than what he quoted ($450 for a stock ls1 clutch), but it's still a whole bunch of money.

he also said that he could cut the rotors and replace all the pads for $350, but i think i'd like to learn how to do that myself, maybe with a little help?

i really wish i'd be able to do this all myself, but i don't really have the time or tools. but then again, i only have about $1300 saved up to last me the whole semester, and my girlfriend's birthday is coming up.

i think it's starting to look like i'll have to trade the zr1's, sell the stock 16's, and try to grab some cheap ws6 wheels. i'm also probably gonna sell the sfc's :(

i'd still like to lower the car, but if i can't afford the clutch, the shocks and springs might have to go too :(

i'd love to say i'd do the clutch for you, but i dont have my lift yet or my air compressor yet, its not a hard job at all. i'm sure someone here can help you with it. I'm doing my TQ arm and adjusting my exhaust at my old shop tomorrow so i'll ask my old boss how much he'd charge to do it, he's very good on prices, you can buy whatever clutch and he'll just charge installation, or maybe i could even do it there and just throw him some money for use of the shop, i'll let you know. i can't promise anything yet though.

oh yeah, and brakes are easy! I can get the rotors cut for like 5-10 bucks each at most, maybe for free, i'll see about that, and I can get pads at cost so they may cost around 120 for all four wheels, ill check into that too. Plus I'd install them for free and you can learn for next time.

that would be incredibly awesome. i would help you out, i really want to learn how to do all this stuff. i could come home on a saturday and spend all day on it, and i'll buy you a 12 pack or whatever you want.

as far as the rotors & pads goes you could buy new pads, rotors, calipers and brakelines for that money...just do it yourself pat...theres one special tool that you'll need to get the calipers off and its like a $2 socket...as far as the clutch goes i cant see teh labor being much more then $300 at most shops & just buy the clutch on your own.

dude a spec stage 3 is less money thana stock clutch... get a stage 3 for 400 shipped.. and its 300 bucks it install it over at ttp. that guy is deifnatly overcharging you
