View Full Version : car financing/loans, and fraud... turn him in?reward?
ok, an aquaintence of mine bought a car a few months back, he took a loan out to get it. after a little while her realized he didnt like the car and just decided to part it out. he just stopped maiking payments on it as well. He has the car hidden somwhere, which i may know where. He owes me and several of my friends money, so i was wondering if banks/finance compaines would provide any type of reward for info on the car or the return of whats left of the car itself. I fugire at least then theyd have proof the car was "stripped", and they could pursue him for the amount and not just try to get the car back....i dont know what to do. I have the radio from the car that he asked me to sell on ebay, but that was before i knew the story of it...so what to do... oh and hes an ass so i dont care what happens to him.. anyone know if theres some type of reward?

first thing is that this would be the kind of thing you woudl have to get teh state police involved in. they woudl take it to the federal level from there.
odds are there would be little or no reward for it, other than the fun of watching his life fall apart before your eyes. :) good shot at getting an award for being a good citizen and **** too, and the ladies always dig that :)

always an ulterior motive when it comes to tim lol
maybe ill just take pics of the car as is and "hold the radio for evidence" and tell him i'll go to the bank and cops if he doesnt pay me back, that should scare him into finding the few hundred bucks for me, and then i wont even have to do anything. lol

well lets see here...its technically the banks car still right? Now youve got a radio from the BANKS car right? I wouldnt go holding (the banks) "stolen" property lol...maybe im reading too much into it but it would/could fall under receiving stolen goods...but hey who am i to say.
well i'd just tell him i'd be "holding" it to scare him, if that doesnt work...then i'll go the the cops or bank and give them the radio. Â*If i do take legal action i would give in the radio....otherwise as far as i'm concerned, the radio was never here

Take the radio and any form of real evidence that you have about this car being parted out. Pictures or video tape would probably help modivate the police. Do take it to the state police dept.
Bank wont get mad as long as you dont plan on getting rid of it. As long as you hold it till the cops can take it off your hands, I dont see a problem.

WHY would someone do that is my first question...
The stupidity of people amazes me
You'll most likely get a pat on the back and a handshake for turning him in. But it kinda would still be the best thing to do by reporting it.

you would have to go straight to the cops. a bank branch would not likely be aware or willing to get involved in a loan situation since they are usually handled outside the branch.
i say turn him in and se what happens. tell the cops about him owing you money and tell them about the radio. it is the perfect opportunity to watch some dickheads life go from crappy to worse than he ever imagined :)
best thing would be when he ponders how exactly he got burned if you make sure he finds out it was you, then you could sue him when he comes after you. hehe, then you have money and yer a hero, chicks dig that(catching onto the theme here? :D)

threatening to report him to get money out of him is blackmail/extortion. you could go to jail for that.
yea, i was thinking itd be sorta blackmail...but between me and 3 of my friends, he owes us around 3000 total... thats just messed up, hes going to have to watch his back from now on... ill find a way to get my money

If he goes to jail for the fraud, how would you get your money back? lol
If he owes you and your friends $3000 approx.... it would probably be more worthwhile to let him do what he wants and get your money back rather than mess up his life even more.
Think about it, he's already dumb enough for the idea of parting out a car on a loan. He'll get his eventually.
Just my 2 cents.
Also, what everyone else said prior to me is pretty much on the ball.... you might wanna get rid of this thread if you do legally pursue... and the whole blackmail/extortion issue too.

lol, i appreciate everyones concern about this thread possibly becomign "evidence", but it would never happen, and i dont think its a big deal anyway.
i'd like to turn him in, to teach him a lesson but i dont know who to go to and it seems more trouble than its worth. I'm thinking I should send the radio to the bank with a letter, lol, that would sure confuse them...that way maybe they'll take some action, or theyll just think "oh he put in an aftermarket radio". Repo companies and collectors have already been after him trying to get the car but it is not at his address, i think its at a friends(the bare stripped shell at least), And with going to the state or even local police... technically the cops cant do anything, the car has not been reported stolen, its in his name so legally its basically his car to do whatever he wants with up until the time the bank, the real owner of the car, comes forward to file a complaint. So in all reality, i would have to contact the financing company, not the branch, but the main office. and i have no idea what comapny that is so i'm back to square 1... hell maybe ill just do it to and turn him in , just to be a nice guy, and we all know, chicks dig that.

he doesn't own the car if he took out a loan to pay for it. the bank owns it. and i think he can get arrested for refusing to pay.
im still pretty sure the loan company has to file a complaint...its sorta like this, if say you got some car work done at a shop and didnt feel like paying but you got your car back already, and then i went and told then cops about you.. they'd be like 'um ok...and what do you want us to do, wheres proof , etc" Do you see what i mean, its not the cops job to take action first.

wow...your "acquaintence" sounds really stupid.
First of all....what does he think that the loan will just disapear if the car does? I don't get his thinking, at all. (Chicks DO NOT dig stupid guys)
Second of all...the friend that is hiding the car is even stupider(more stupid? stupider sounds funnier)
Third of all....Chicks don't always dig nice guys or guys that get rewards for turning someone in that use to be a friend of their's. (well, I do, but I'm jut saying not all chicks do!)
Fourth....The cops probably won't give a **** until the bank that has the loan on the car gets in touch with them or something like that.
Fifth.....You could probably report it to the bank that has the loan on the car but you would have to find out who it is.
Sixth...Why am I counting in every sentence? I'm sleepy I guess.
7th....F IT, blackmail him and get your money back. CHICKS dig bad boys! (well, some do)
I know I've heard of places you can report things like this, but I don't remember where....I tried looking it up on the internet but then I some how got to a page on Vioxx and lawsuits and whether you should sue if you've used it, I've got to show my dad cause he flipped and totalled my mom's SUV while on it and they said it was because of Vioxx. (sorry, i'm being random, I need to go to bed!)

Dont think of it as blackmail or extortion. They're such negative words. Think of it as more of a "cause and effect" thing.

the negative reprisals from your action - turning him in - could be nasty. he could say f it, and the money he owes you, and hire someone to jack you up. or he could bring 9 of his friends (maybe he's got that many) to come jack you up. dunno, i would really have to hate someone big time to send them to jail. even then, you have to think of what he might do when he comes out - and by then he could have some more friends, the kind you don't want to meet in a dark alley.
chicks don't dig guys who get their heads kicked in.
i have to tell you my motivation for all of this: if i found out someone turned me in, i'd be all about plotting revenge. hell, i've gotten 'even' over far less in the past. of course, i'd never be stupid enough to part out a car on loan - i am fairly popular with the chicks, and we all know chicks don't dig stupid guys (so i must not be a stupid guy).
