Ok, heres my situation...
I'm currently in my first semester of college at BCC. I hate it. I'm pretty much failing every class. I'm trying, but I really dont know if college is for me. I'm considering taking a semester off and working full time, to see what its like. I figure that (1) I'll have the money I need and (2) I'll be able to decide if I really want to go back to school. I'm working part time now, but I'm not even making enough money to go week to week, and I'm just using my money to pay for gas and food. Does anyone know where I can get full time work?
I'm also open to other possibilities, but I cant just stop working. With the amount of money I owe my parents, thats not an option.

Sell Crack... thats what I hear they do these days.
but seriously, Personally I wouldnt give up college, because no matter what your just going to end up back at it once in your life, and then you'll regret not doing it when you were young. Finish out the semester, try and pass. And take a break. Work at your current job with the max hours and if you really have to take up a second job.
I work two jobs and go to school, and I dont have a single problem.

I understand where you are coming from. I left the college I was attending almost two years ago and got a job. I still take classes at night (2 or 3 per semester), which is a good thing. I recommend that you try looking for a full time job (there are always temp. positions available in offices, and if they like you, they may hire you. Many of these jobs start between $10 and $15 per hour. They are usually over by 4 or 4:30 so you can still register for one or two night classes.
Chances are, if you quit school now, it will be very hard for you to go back, so always take at least one class.

the reason you have a problem is because you are SINGLE. but whatever karl decides to do is fine by me. I still think you shoud take one or two classes. night classes or sumthing. dont completely stop. and try to get a full time job... Justin is right.

Why do you hate it, and more importantly, why are you doing bad with the grades?

Wow, I had a flashback when I read your first post. I started at the wonderful BCC full-time when I graduated high school, and worked about 50 hours a week, and did horrible in school, failing some classes. I ended up doing part time school and working full-time still, and I was doing better in my classes at that point, and I had time to do what I wanted to do, instead of just work and school and no play. I never got my associates from there because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, and ended up taking a job where I was not able to go to school because I had to have open availabiltiy. Over a year later, I have recently put in my 2 weeks at that job and I am going back to a job that I loved, it's less $$$, but they are going to be paying for my schooling, and I will be working towards a career in something I want to do(business management at a theme park!). So after telling my story, my advice to you, is that if you want to take some time off from school, do it, in my situation it's the best thing I did because I experienced the "real world" for a while and I found out what I wanted to do with my life. School just isn't for some people, I make more $$ then most people right out of college and most of them can't find jobs. I think the best people could do is figure out what they want to do with school and their career before they pursue it so that they don't risk their GPA and waste money. Also, many companies don't look for just schooling anymore, they look for experience, there's just too may applicants out there these days due to the crappy economy. That's my $.02!

Why I hate it: Because its just like highschool. Some people say highschool was the best time of their life, and they'd give anything to live it over again. I say if i had to live it over again, I'd put a bullet throuh my head. Even now, I find myself dragging myself to bergen, and when people ask me how i like it, the best answer i can give them is "eh. its school."
Why I am failing: In class, I'm great. out of class (studying, hw, etc.) i suck. I have ADHD, and though i know its not an excuse, its an explination. I have a lot of trouble actually getting myself to sit down and do the work. even when i do sit down, something important comes up that cannot be postponed (ex, going to school) and then, somethin ELSE important comes up that cannot be postponed (work) and then I come home, exhausted, and go to sleep, and I eventually forget completely about the assignment until the teacher brings it up in class that its due. I mean, im not lazy. when I was in HS, I ran the tv studio. I would stay as late as 8 pm in the studio, when they would kick me out, straighting everything, testing everything, making sure everything would work for the broadcast the next morning.
If its something I truely like, i can do it. like my mass communication class (im going for broadcast) I can do good in if it werent for the fact that the teacher is an ******* who makes up his test questions with his own oppions stated as facts, and just plain ********.
And by the way, thanks guys, but I'm going back next semester as full time. I talked to my dad about it, and his response "I would prefer if you stayed in school." (read as: "If you leave, you better work your ass off, because your going to have to be paying rent in your own apartment" )

HAHA maybe thats what i had  and i always thought i was too lazy to do the homework and would rather be out with my friends :)
man, at least i wasnt alone, i couldnt do school, not my thing. Â*Id rather go out with friends than homework, i never did homework, i always managed to talk my way out of it to teachers. Â*I graduated HS with a GPA of 3.666 and went right to stevens tech in hoboken for electrical engineering, 19 credits the first semester...and no hands on, not my thing, i left after the 2nd semester, and started working at a gas station where i became a mechanic for 2 years, During then i took a few criminal justice courses(it pays to know certain things) Â*then i started working for my dad, now i took over his landscaping business, not sure if its what i want to do with the rest of my life, but its a job. Â*My goal is to get into custom automotive fabrication and design, sorta like custom hot rods, but its not easy i know, i'm just trying to build my skills and soon get some cars built that will make people take notice. anyways, you do need to try at school, i did and then i learnd after a while that it wasnt for me

School isn't for everyone... all I can say is weigh out your decisions wisely.
As for the path I chose...
I graduated HS in '01 then went to Penn State for one semester. Came home over Christmas break and got a great paying job offer to do accounting in Edison. It was worth it more for me to take the job than to stay at Penn State based on the salary they offered me. I was going to Middlesex County College part-time at nights... 2 years later that said company laid me off (corporate cutbacks), and now I am finishing up at MCC at nights and working by day.
Same as what everyone else said... don't stop... at least take 1 or 2 classes a semester. I took one semester off when I started my first accounting job, and getting back into the groove was probably one of the most strenuous tasks that I had to apply my mind.
But keep in mind... success isn't always getting a college degree (take Bill (foff) for example). Look at Bill (ironically) Gates... he's a Harvard dropout, and now the richest man in the world. So, if you have some good ideas, then maybe you should pursue them rather than college, but if you don't, having a degree is your insurance policy to finding a half-decent job.
