Why is it that all the cobalt commercials have the vette? I get all pumped thinking its a vette commercial but then that little bitch come on... OK fine the one with the cobalt nudging the vette was funny. But I just saw one with a cobalt and vette taking the twisties, then racing em, and the cobalt passed the vette... Â*:hammer: Â*:knock: Â* Â*:supergay:
It was funny tho, cuz a kid said "that's how Kasey drives" then it showed the vette pulled over and the cobalt going past... i said "no THAT'S how I drive... pulled over Â* "
GM may have done one thing with this commercial that it aimed to tho... market the cobalt at the "sport compact scene"... cant wait to see kids in em trying to race vettes, take the twisties and think that they won't get pulled over Â*:typeR: Â*

because the corvette sells itself. between the bang for the buck performance being so strong and the popular press tripping over itself complimenting the car, there is no real need for gm to push it.
the colbalt is a different story, feeding in the performance heritage angle has done well for other brands and manufacturers, it looks like gm finally decided to get into the act.
now if they would jsut fire the pencil pushers and go racing again i bet they could sell a ton of cars.

If you listen to the commercial, they talk about the relation of the Cobalt to the Corvette. What they are trying to say is this
You know the Corvette is bad ass right? Well, this is its little brother, and he is just as bad assed.
EXACTLY how Chevy used to sell the Camaro.

Yea but the "older brother" always kicks the ***** outta the "younger brother". I take it from past experience

Duh...and they make that obvious that the Corvette is the more powerful brother. Usualy, the Cobalt pisses off teh Corvette, and it puts the Cobalt in its place.

Tim, I don't think race on Sunday sell on Monday is all that true anymore. I'd like to see some stock car racing statistics about wins vs sales. It just isn't as popular anymore. There is still brand loyalties but the models aren't nearly as competative. Right now it's bang for the buck, how many cup holders, and does it look like something I wouldn't be mind caught driving around for 4 years. Obviously the cavi had a lot of issues and evidently they were using the cavi in a lot of drag racing... it's gone now.
I do like the commercials with both of them. Still pissed about the boy driving the corvette being pulled. That one was awesome. If anything it gave kids insentive to do well in school. Think about it, if I want to afford a corvette, I'm going to work my butt off. You'd be suprised how many people work just to invest in a car they like, it's like econimic stimulus, hehe.

too bad the cobalt isn't the vette's little brother. the Solstice is. :D

Well...chassis design wise...yeah, true.

Well...chassis design wise...yeah, true.

and spirit-wise, i think. the cobalt is just a replacement for the cavalier. they finally gave it *some* balls by adding the SC'd ecotec, but it's still a cavalier at heart.

the Solstice, on the other hand, is a true sports car like the Corvette, only smaller and with less power. Kinda like (this is a bad analogy because of the power differences) the Miata and the RX-7. the spirit is the same.
