Just a thought here, but maybe we could have a permanent section of some kind for 'Repair Garages' each Forum Member feels is worth recommending. At least this way, when a member does need to send a job out, they'd have some ideas as to where they could safely send the work on their car.

Larue Sunoco on the border of Princeton and Montgomery township. His address is 919 US Highway 206 N across from Baker Automotive dealer. He will do rear gears VERY well. I trust him with anything that's been hot rodded since he is a hot rodder. Has a 70' Yenko Nova with a n/a BBC that he runs at E-town for years. He's an ******* so don't take it to heart, just give him the job and it'll get done right if you're in a pinch.
I use another local shop for small stuff that I can't do myself... like removing a rusty gutted cat that's managed to stick to my all stainless exhaust, or install SFCs, stuff that requires a lift and some shop tools. If you need his number, let me know he's CHEAP. Cheapest guy around but he does awesome work.

There are three shops around here I'll actually let anywhere near my cars. The first one is 'Hoffman's Transmissions Plus', 565 Amboy Ave, Perth Amboy NJ, 732-376-1150. The Father and Sons are 'Hotrodders' themselves, owning respectively, a 57 Chevy, a 72 Chevlle, and a late 80's Mustang. None of these cars are slowpokes, and they did all the work on them in house. These guys know what it takes to build anything decent, and they're also nice to deal with.

The 2nd shop I use, is 'Edison Friendly Mobil', Rt 27 and Vineyard Rd, Edison, NJ, 732-287-1883. The current Manager is the son of the original owner of the business. The Son is also a car nut, and I've known him since he was knee high to a puddle. When my T/A still had to go through NJ State Inspection, 'Edison Friendly Mobil' always got the job, because I NEVER had to worry about anything bad happening to my T/A. 'Edison Friendly Mobil' is a bit higher priced than 'Hoffman's Transmissions Plus', but I've always been treated fairly there, and the quality of their work is good.

The 3rd shop I use, is 'Bill's Ineffable Auto Rehabilitation', located at the end of Amboy Ave, in Metuchen NJ 732-548-4666. The current owners learned from the original owner of the business, and these guys do know what they're doing, they're honest, and they're also fellow 'Gearheads.'
