Man, their are so many new area codes that pop up with the mass amount of cell phones in NJ.

well 908 is an old area code, it used to be piscataway and most of central jersey, until it went to 732...then after that, 908 moved a little north of where i lived and then cell phones, and now i dont think there are anymore 908 #s availible so they created 848 just for cell phones

Back in the day, 201 was North Jersey, and 908 was South Jersey. Then they added 732 and 973, and now I think a few more as well.

If it helps at all, my buddy in Elizabeth has a 908 number.

Lets not forget the dreaded 609....*shakes* Oh, the horror!

My cell is 908 because they ran out of 732 numbers.

...adding Bridgewater, South Plainfield, Branchburg, Hillsborough, Raritan, and Manville to that list.

I'm sure there are more....

I live in Middlesex, and my grandparent's told me it used to be a 609 area code WAYYYY back in the day before I was even born, then it became a 201, then it changed to 908 (I actually remember when the 201/908 switch occurred, I was very young), then it changed again to 732.

Nothing.....except for the fact they ran out of numbers, and had to create 856
