BS local town ordinances

well, i knew sooner or later it would happen, last week i recieved 2 seperate certified letters from my town about "property maintenence" violations. haha first one was "a junked vehicle on premisis" um ok which one? lmao, i called them and left a message which vehivle the consider "junk"? no answer still a week later. the second was "vehicles must be parked on approved driveways, not other parts of the premisis" It seems one of my neighbors doesnt like me right now. eh **** them. i'm sorting my stuff out this month and the town wont be able to bitch. ok so i have 10 vehicle of my own at my house(+4 not mine) 3 of those 10 are registered and insured(parked outside), 2 are in the garage, 1 is fully covered, other 4...well no plates or anything, haha. when i got the junked vehicle notice i only had my 95 fire damage bronco in my driveway, eclipse covered on side of garage, and 70 vette body/shell in my other driveway. I assume they meant the vette shell, too bad i checked the law in my town and it states, exempt from the "junked vehicle" term are vehicles classified as histroric with or without valid NJ registration. so... that "Historic" '70 vette body they cannot touch, the bronco will be in the garage soon and the eclipse you cant tell is a car, its only like 3 feet high right now. the next notice was for my 94 firebird and 90 camaro which i had parked on some dirt and woodchips off my one driveway, so i moved them all on the paved driveway and they cant say anythign now either. this week i'm putting up a fence to hide my car parts in my backyard so i dont have to hear more ****... but i gotta get a zoning permit for a fence no matter what size or location, haha thats great, what an anal town i live in...

Actually I had a warning on the Trans Am, when it was sitting up top of my driveway on jackstands for 6 months.

I think the law is pretty consistant around here, and a car cannot be left in one place without lisence plates for over a certain period of time.

It sucks, but I bet your is even worse. Maybe throw some cammo covers over them and grow some trees and shrubs.

Not that I'm one to talk but why do you have some many project cars? How do you ever expect to get them done with so many? I've limited myself to 1 project car at a time so that I will complete it :wink: . I have a friend who's father has the same number of cars as you. He works full time and even with 2 engineering children he can't seem to get any of them finished. His oldest (my friend) and I have convinced him to sell or junk the cars that are just sucking up space, time, and money. So he's scrapping an old conversion van but taking out the TH400 tranny, the Mercedies is getting sold for dirt cheap, late 80's t-bird is also up for sale. He's left with a zz4 powered pickup, a 4x4 Explorer that runs great for 20 minutes and then shuts-down, a 96 Impala SS which will always be running, a work car/suv (explorer), a buick for his wife, and a 4x4 jeep that they're teaching they're youngest to drive stick and then selling it.
Why are you holding onto the Bronco and Ecplipse? Just rip out things you can sell on ebay and send the rest of to a recycler (some pick-up for free).
That fence thing is a good idea, especially if you're not good friends with the neighbors.
One other thing you could do is put tarps over them and put a sign on-top that says "firewood, $100,000 a cord", hehe.

well i do landscaping and my last day of the season was last week, during the winter i deal with my cars, so thats why stuff build ups, this is the rundown on my cars and plans:
84 bronco 6" lift 40" tires...parting out this week
94 firebird ..parting out this week
90 camaro...being sold whole in about a month
70...i dunno, maybe using 1/4 panels on my 79
79 vette, 6.5 year project, will never be sold
95 Bronco, being rebuilt w/ wheels/suspension/tranny coming from 84.
01 Camaro SS...my main car
87 monte SS , almost on the road, then selling to my GF.
90 eclipse...my custom RICER, building to take to SV, no-rush project.
87 GTA... i dunno, 2nd daily driver...

and once the 94 firebird is stripped, ill have the 88 GTA get dropped to be stripped quick. It takes me an average of 2 full days to strip any car down to the bare frame/body, so once the monte gets outta my garage, i should have the 94 bid, 88 gta and 84 bronco gone before the new year.

That's a lot of vehicles to have sitting around so I could see most towns not allowing it. If my neighbor had a bunch of stuff sitting around like that and it took down house values I would be mad. Do you have a nice tall fence to hide the stuff behind? Lots of towns have ordinances against too much junk sitting out in the open. It seems like you're always parting something out which would really be considered a small business and if you're not zoned for that you'll get in trouble too.

its a decent size property and a corner property with a seperate driveway on each side, so it spreads it out. this week i am putting up a fence to hide most of my parts. so really before the new year everything should be settled and all neighbors happy. the problem is that right up the street they built 4 $1.2M homes(with liek no property) and they may be the ones bitching, hell, all the houses are going up in price anyway, but ours is still the biggest on our few surrounding streets, so **** em all. haha. i wanna move just to get the $1M+ for this house and get a larger one in the middle of nowhere for a lot less money(with a 12 car garage) :lol:

they did that to my dad when he was a kid. well by kid i mean i was four at least so he would have been 26ish. either way he had a barn type thing in his back yard. which could fit. about 8 cars comfertable with plenty of room to walk around the cars. work on them etc. i think at one point i counted.... 17 cars...? something like that... i dunno it wasnt all my dad either him and friends and his brother and his friends. they all worked on cars all the time. either way. the reason they fit the 17th car was because it stuck out of this one spot where there was supposed to be a door and by sticking out i mean u could see the side of the car. mayb 3 inches out of the barn. either way they fined him for how he got the cars into the barn and having too many unregistered vehicals... etc. and the was the end of his working on car days... thus i dont know ***** about cars now...

lol. my dad told me I have three months to get the camaro running (we worked it out to roughly three months from date of start, but not exactly), and if the building inspector gives us a summons for running a junkyard or something, that I have to pay it. If its in my backyard, which is completely fenced, they cant say anything, right?

you should try to put it directly behind the garage... except if i remember correctly... thats all soft dirt back there istn it... either way its easiest to hide it there.

you need to move to a small town like i live in.... i own half of my block so thers like 1/8th of a mile between all of my neighbors so whos there to complain? lol guy down the street did complain about my exhaust one night :roll: what are you talkin about he doesnt sell parts he gives them away and people make donations to him to help fund his projects :wink:

when we first moved into this house, we were renting it and the landlord said we couldn't park on anything but the driveway. of course, there was always a car parked to the side of the driveway and one right in front of the door on the grass. no one wants to park in the street http://img116.exs.cx/img116/934/z0tdntknw.gif. now, with my three cars, both sons have a car each and my wife's jeep, we're all over the place. the '69 is at the top of the driveway, then my wife's jeep. parked next to the jeep is the '87 (on the grass) followed by the acura (not mine). the achieva is parked in front of the door and the other son's car (honda - http://tcwozere.co.uk/smileys/shakehead.gif ) is parked next to that. the township has never hassled us, and even if they did, i doubt there is much they can do about it. there are several collectors that have many cars in my neighborhood. one guy has a very eclectic collection of at least a dozen cars, all under tarps. it looks like hell, as does his yard, but i think he's far enough away from me that it won't affect the value of the houses here.
