well for me it all started one sunday when my dad and i saw a mustang covertible that needed work for sale around the corner from me. so my dad went to see how much and they wanted to much so he said will start looking. i said i want a mustang then my dad suggested getting a camaro because of their larger rear wheel base. and i said no then i just wanted a mustang but then i saw a camaro and i fell in love with it and after a few months of looking for a camaro firebird or mustang i told my dad to ditch the mustang idea and just look for a camaro or firebird. this was in the summer of 2003 and in october my dad went in the hospital for double bypass and that was over my birtday and when he came home he got my mom to drive us over to this camaro in west deptford. and i saw it and i loved and i told my dad to call about it. he called and said ther was no answer. and a week later i was walking home from school and thinking i should ask him to call again. but when i got up to my driveway i looked to the right and 20 feet behind the gate there it was the camaro that i was going to ask him to call about and that is how i got started. by the way i was looking for my first car when i was 11 then when i was 12 i got it and now i am 13 and am getting ready to paint it in the spring.

Well let's see... I always had a natural affiinity towards cars and such when my younger brother, (dieselkickyoass4sure), started taking after my dad's liking for a good car or cycle. At first I didn't care much for the hobby, but it grew on me when i got a fiero gt for my first car. Now I know that's not an F body, but my friend Will (crazy77c3) introduced me to his buddies a couple years ago, who happened to be Tim and Justin, as well as Criag and Garrett, and all they talked about were camaros and firebirds. So they grew on me a bit, but I will forever be the "baby f-body".

suprizingly enough i was stupid when i was younger. i fell in love with my ex. and he had an 87 firebird... and it was his first car... and even when he couldnt drive it we would sit in it and listen to music in the driveway. haha either way. that car was a lot of firsts. good times... most of them. with the exception of one almost accident last winter, the first friday of decemeber we slid off the road and were inches away from the gardrail and a telephone pole. but other then that i loved that car almost as much as i love him. got pretty attached too... eventually he sold it... but ehh everything has to go in its time... just like him i guess. doesnt mean it doesnt hurt when it goes. since then i liked his next car. but really started to want an f-body of my own. especially since he considered selling me the firebird... eventually he found a trans am at his school and eventually i bought mine offa Alex. i <3 my t/a... but not quite at much as i loved that firebird... i guess some things will never change ill alwayz love 'em. but thats just how i am...

when i was a kid i was all about corvettes. i can remeber going on vacations with my family when i was still in grammar school and pointing out every vette and telling my family teh year and options available and anything else you can tell from an outside glance at a car.
once i got my license a friend of mine got a brand new 92 Z28(showing my age). car was loaded, L98, JG1, GU6, G80....all th right codes. we went out cruising one day and during teh summer, that was when i got introduced to teh vette attitude.
some jack ass down at teh beach had a **** box of a vette and had teh nerve to comment to us about how we would never meet any girls in a ****** little camaro. it was teh usual rich ******* with the vettes beat everythign attitude. we raced, he lost, he said we cheated, we laughed hysterically, i stopped wanting a vette. :)

don't ya love a story with a happy ending. :)

about 3 years later i got my first f-body. 91 RS, LO3 + Auto, black w/red int. i beat teh hell out of that car to the point it was useless to me. i will always miss it though. ya never forget yer first great car.

When I was around 12 or 13 I really wanted a Camaro. I just loved them and I can contribute some of that to my Dad owning a 1967 and a 1980 Camaro. As I got older I realized that I couldn't get a Camaro because they were expensive and the car insurance was outrageous. Late March of 2004 I was searching on a Florida based car site for my 'dream Camaro' and I found it. I had all of the money in the bank and I managed to buy it, buy it off of my Dad's friend from highschool.

Well, 2 of my friends had Mustang convertibles in high school(66 and 67) so I naturally had to take the other side and started researching Camaros. A couple of month later I stumbled on a 69 Camaro conv about 3 miles for my house and got it for $2000. It was just a 6 cyl car, but that was changed within a year. I never realized how solid that car really was until I sold it and started looking for another one. Oh well!

Originally i was a mustang guy, knew everything about them, what they ran stock, how to tell what was what just from the outside, all the specs and everything. then i lived at my aunts taking care of my uncle what was dying of cancer :( my aunt has an anniversary TA, i started learning the specs on F-bodies and how GM has always been ahead of ford in performance. and fell in love with the curves of a 4th gen TA. then i got my license, drove a ford taurus for a little over a year and got my firebird with my own money. now i learning as much as i can about them so hopefully ill be able to do my own motor and tranny rebuilds somewhere down the line

Ah...my first date with a Fbody...
I was 3 years old, and my dad was looking to buy a new Camaro. He scopes out all the lots, and find that this one dealer has a Z28 on the lot, loaded with everything he wanted.
My Dad takes me to the dealer with him, and before we go in, he tells me to remember "16-8". So my Dad haggles with the dealer on the price. The car stickerd for 17.5, and my dad said he wouldnt spend more then 16.8. The dealer said that 17 was as low as he could go.
My Dad then turns to me and says "Hey Alex...tell the man what Daddy is gunna pay him."
So I look up from my toys, look at the dealer and say..."16-8".

The rest is history. 8)

I always remember taking the ttops off and crusing down to my grandparents house in south jersey over the summer. Then my dad was going to sell the Z, and he said that if I helped him tune it up and fix it, that he would give me the money to put twards a new car. I fixed it up, and he asked if I wanted to drive it before he sold it.
Well, I started it up and drove it and I was HOOKED! I couldnt stop driving it. No way I could ever sell this car. So with half the money, I got my moms Taurus, and the other half went into my Z and making her road-worthy.

I was like Tim. Only I'm STILL a vette fan, just can't afford the hope ups to make it worthwhile. If I couldn't do anything to either I'd be driving a vette right now.
I actually went shopping for cars and I only knew that I wanted something fast. I was stupid and turned down a 76 red vette with a 400 that had a cracked rear bumper and a non-running engine. Guy only wanted $3600 for the whole thing and all numbers matched. Car was in excellent condition for the price, but allas I would have owed my parents money and that didn't jive well with me. So I thought what's next in line to a vette... camaro. Went out and bought my first camaro which was a turd. 86 sport coupe and I wasted a lot of money in it. Lucky for me I sold it for more than I initially paid for it but I had over $2000 into it that was lost for good :( . I sold it because I couldn't find any 91-92 ground effects and the aftermarket ones I bought got lost in shipping. So I bought my current 91 red sled and beat the snot out of it (like I do with all my cars). I promised to never sell this car so it's still with me through thick and thin. It's been totalled when the interior got majorely jacked up from the last car stereo stealing. Needless to say I took the $3400 the insurance gave me and bought the car back for $1400, the rest of it went into a new and better stereo and some went to the new motor a year later.
That's how I got hooked. Now I know so much about thirdgens that it makes going to another platform pointless, especially since I already have rear wheel drive, a v8, and leg/head room!
That's how I got started. I'll always have my 91 unless it gets wrecked, even then I might just chop it up and turn it into a full out street car with fiberglass front end and tube chassis.

My dad is a mechanic, so cars and racing have always been a big part of my life. I was also obsessed with vettes as a young kid. It wasn't that I didn't like Camaros and 'birds, but I viewed them as the vette's little brother, so they just weren't as cool.

My first car was destined to be a 1985 Omni, bought when I was 15. Dad was using it as a commuter car (much better milage than the '84 Silverado), and I was fixing it up slowly. On my 17th birthday, I got a call from my mom asking me if I would be interested in a Camaro. A friend of the family was moving to CA, and she had an '85 Sport Coupe with a nice stereo and a blown head gasket. I bought the car for $300, towed it to my dad's shop, and began learning everything I could (the hard way) about the 2.8. I got the head gasket done, and about three weeks later one of the rod bearings went. I ended up spending a bunch of money to completely rebuild the 2.8....only to have the same rod bearing go about 2 months later. Drove the car for another 6 months, just waiting for a piston to come flying through the hood, until it died. That was the end of my senior year of high school, and I went off to college f-bodyless. A few years later, in June of 03, I found my current car...which we all know is still sitting in my driveway :o)

well when i was 16, i got my first car, a 4 dr 1973 dodge cornet custom. i had that for 1 week after i got my liscense at 17 and then i realized i wanted something better. My friend was looking at a 87 Iroc z with a 350tpi and ttops, very clean car. i fell in love with it BUT i didnt want to be like him and get a camaro. So i looked for the next best thing, a trans am. after looking at a few pos ta's later, i came across a black 88 GTA tpi 305 auto ttops digital dash etc. i got it 1 day before my freind brought home his Iroc. After that GTA i was hooked on fbodies. Since then i have owned around 25 f bodies, sure i have bought a few broncos and daytonas, and my 79 vette but i'll never forget how fun these f bodys can be.

Yeah I'm another Smokey and the Bandit victim. Saw the black and gold and knew I wanted one. In college I couldn't afford much so the 85 Camaro in my sig was my first f-body, enough to make me appreciate both the Camaro and Firebird. Later I tried the 90 Firebird and decided I liked them better, so stuck with them through the 97 Firebird. I've never owned a Trans Am and still dying to jump into one.

He sold his camaro cause he got a 94 escort for free but after about 6 months he is looking for another camaro.

both my parents work full-time and long hours at that, so since i was born i spent every summer at my cousin's house. Everyone at that house was a nascar/vette nut and i could sit through an entire winston cup race before i could talk. at that time my uncle had a 35th anny vette(the one where EVERYTHING is white) and it was the God of cars to me. as i got older i started looking for a 3rd or 4th gen vette that i could buy for cheap() n fix up, but that dream was crushed after a year of staring at insurance quotes and prices that were WAY outa my price range. at this point i looked to the next best thing, the f-body, since it had the same engine as the vette. then i turned into a complete camaro-loving idiot, and even called firebirds fake camaros(still hittin myself for that) and i started looking for a 3rd gen camaro. my neighbor(major gearhead) caught wind of this and since his son didnt give two ****s about cars(said no to the 92 mint condition mustang convertible his dad offered him in order to end up buying a 4-door 96 grand am gt  ). He and i began searching the classifieds religiously until he saw me outside one day and asked if id be interested in a firebird he found. went out to check it out with my mom and neighbor and it turned out to be a very good-looking clean car(bright red 89 formula ttops L03 auto) and i ended up buying it since i didnt think i would find a camaro in my price range. Then i came across the f-bodyhideout and learned that my car was slow as **** and that pontiac was always a step ahead of the bow-tie so i decided to never consider a camaro...and the rest is history

ps i still will stay true to my pact even if the camaro is brought back and the bird is not...i will never purchase a maro over a bird ever

Give me a chevy 454 over the poncho 455 anyday. I like big bore engines for SPORTS cars, leave the long strokes for the trucks that don't have good transmissions.
Don't get me wrong, I love poncho motors and have respect for everything GM did back in the day. I just don't find the 455 to be anything special.
It's a shame the LS-6 454 never made in the 70 camaro's, that would have been a rocketship.
The 1970 Chevelle SS with the 450hp 454 was a low 13's at around 105mph. Chew on that a little you camaro haters.

Anyway, He had it for a few years, but every winter it snowed. So he ended up selling it to my grandparents and bought a truck. That was the first winter it didnt snow. my grandmother drived it for a few years. That was so cool. in 3rd grade, one kid gets picked up in a minivan, another gets picked up in a stationwagon, and you...you leave in a firebird! 8) Oh common! It was third grade! We were all impressed with stupid **** like that, I'm sure! Anyway, They had the car a few years, and it was promised to me, so for about 3 years or so, it was out in a garage in PA, where my Grandparents have a house. When I was 16, i took a day off from school with my dad to go get it and trailer it back. My parents wouldnt register it, so it sat in my driveway for the winter. More times than not, I kept it company.

Anyway, I turned 17, and I was in love with that car, and driving in general. Anything that gave me the oportunity to drive, i volunteered. Milk, picking up the brother, even made up excuses to go driving. In the end, I racked up over 30k miles in just under a year, and I put that car through hell, and it kept running. Then I saw a trans am. scary similar. 86, Blue/silver...except it was a TA, had t tops, and a sweet sound system in the trunk (but the original tape deck player  ) Anyway, I got that, sold the firebird, and now i have the TA. Regardless of what people say about the 305, I love it. After spending almost a year driving around in a 2.8 Firebird, with everyone telling you it "wasnt a real car," just the knowledge of having a v8 under the hood does somethig for me. Not that I'd turn down an LS1 motor if it happened to come my way, but just the knowledge that I have a v8 makes me feel all warm and squishy inside.

You were only there for maybe 1/1000th of the time I was in the car. In the rare cases when I actually did homework, I did it in the car.

Well my dad long ago owned a 73 camaro in **** brown, he told me of stories like he took the 305 out and put a 350 in and said it would move!! Well like father like son, my first camaro was a 79' at the age of 17. unfortunately i'm in the process of selling it, too much body work needs to be done, but I have a 96, and wouldnt part with it for the world, even though it has a 6 cylinder, it still flies

permit is 16 but u cant get Â*ur license untill 17 and if u get ur permit while 16 u need to take the 6 hour course

And you need to have your permit for at least 6 months. I thought that the 6 hour course was just if you went to a driving school, to show that you were capable of driving (driving school is not mandatory, but helps to lower insurance premiums)

I remember I was the last "class" to not go through the provisional licence.

I am (eventualy) going to get my 72 and be a multi-Camaro owner...
Now all I need is my 69 Z28.

My mother's first car was a 67 Camaro right out of the showroom floor. She actually sold it when I was 1 so I don't really remember it but I've seen a few pics of it and I was hooked. It was so beautiful. My hope is to one day buy and restore a 67 to match the one she had to give to her.

I got hooked on Trans Ams (more specifically) after seeing Smokey and the Bandit...ok I know that seems a little lame but it did fuel my obsession with them. Now everyday I look out the window to look at it or sit in it it makes me smile. :D
