hey gang,
i know a lot of you were disappointed when the pool hall and other good north jersey ideas kind of fell apart last time. so this is your big chance to get something rollin.
where do you wanna go?
who wants to take the lead?
a few little things to remeber when thinkign of a location:
1. it must be friendly to all members, no age restrictions
2. we can not go anyplace that requires down payments or preorders
3. must have plently of parking and food available.
let me hear those ideas gang. if the plannign starts now and we get things locked in early we will surely have a great meet.

p.s. i will give mad bonus points to whoever can get something in the mahwah area. it is about as far north as you can get and still be in jersey, and it is a really nice area that i need an excuse to get back to

I want to at least help out in planning. This time the north meet WILL be in the north!!!
I'm gonna see whats local to me, ie bergen/passaic county... then a lot of northerners are close (all the ghettobrookers, paul, etc) and my lazy ass doesnt have to travel too far
Seriosuly tho, I'll start looking around for places. Prolly 50+ cars right?
I'll go to this March meet if its actually in the 201 area code, lol

I think you can suck it up just once. I dont think we have to worry about the ratio of 21 to 18 for a meet. Theirs plenty of old people on this board to cover the 1 to 5 ratio needed.
If that wont work; we would need to do more planning. Just take this in as food for thought :
- Understanding Management
- Must have an indoor capacity for 40+ people together
- Reasonable food prices
- No down payments required
- Timing
- Parking lot size
- Eazy Access from the Parkway or Turnpike.
Something off rt. 17 in Paramous - Ramsey would be great. I think before my time with the old boards their was a meet at Panderosa Bread in Ramsey.
Just thought Id add, if we do it in a popular place and knowing the ricers in North Jersey, they will try to show off and ruin things if were spotted.
we are a new jersey based club holding meets in teh regions of new jersey.
i also do not feel like playing babysitter so that we cna establish teh 1 to 5 ratio needed to have the meet.
there is also the thought that on a saturday afternoon that place will be packed.
sorry to say it, cause they are funplaces to hang out, but the club is not going to travel to dave and busters for a meet anytime soon.

Guests under the age of 21 (legal drinking age) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (a person 25 years of age or older who agrees to be responsible for the conduct and safety of the underage guests). Our N. Bethesda, Philadelphia and San Jose locations enforce a year-round 11 p.m. curfew for guests under the age of 21.
One parent or guardian can accompany up to a maximum of four underage guests.
I don't know how many of our members over 25 would like to sign waivers for underage members. I sure wouldn't (no offense to anyone). Not to mention the New York thing.....not the best place for a New Jersey based club to have it's FIRST real North Jersey meet.

Some I can think of off the top of my head are Bennigans....and thats the only one i can remember. I'm thinking we should find someplace that suits our needs and then some. Personally, I think that if we used the same resurant time and time again, (1) it would significantly cut down on confusion as to how to get there, and (2) the management would know us, understand that we dont cause trouble or anything, and be even more willing to accomedate us. lets say we have 50 people, and each one spends maybe 20 bucks...thats 1000 bucks earned for the manager to report to the owner...and they did it in a few hours. if they see that its a profitable investment to host our north jersey event, they'll be much more inclined to do it again.

you jsut hit on somethign i have actually been lookin into a bit. we already have a little bit of a good reputation with fuddruckers since we have held meets at many of their locations over teh years(not jsut us, other f-body clubs i have been involved with) and they know that we aren't a real hard crowd to get along with.
benegins would be another great example of a potential relationship with a chain restaurant. they ahve good food, big lots usually, the prices aren't bad, and everyone is allowed in.
we prolly will want to move around a little bit to keep it interesting and give more people a shto at getting that short ride to teh meet every once in a while.

OK, since this may be my first meet I should start tossing my 2 cents in where ever. But I was thinking. Wasn't there an Applebee's at Paramus Park Mall? I figured it would be a good place since the lot is so huge and we could probably get an OK from the premesis security. We'd just have to have someone show up at 1 and start blocking off the parking lot as customers leave. Any thoughts????
NJSPEEDER

sounds like it has some potential. ask the mall management and the restaurant if they woudl be game for it and let us know what they say.

theres a bennigans by me in englewood, but i doubt thats the neighborhood most of the members would want to come to, lol.
I dont think theres an apple bees at paramus park, but there is across the street by TJ max. Gio(93z28 was black and orange, now yellow) works there, so maybe email him and see if he could get info.
Theres a ruby tuesdays at garden state plaza, but then you ahve to deal with saturday mall traffic which isnt fun.
Theres a fuddruckers on rt 4 in paramus as well.
I'd say Charlie browns, but around me none have much parking.
There is a TGIfridays right off rt 4 in hackensack, ALOT of parking there, but again, im not sure how theyd work with a party of 50 people.
I'm just trying to throw out any ideas that come to mind...
Trans Am Chick
01-22-2005, 07:16 AM
most of those are on our list of places to talk to. except for the charlie browns. which i can add... weather pending karl and i will be going around this afternood to talk to managers
i think the applebees hes talking about is the one in the fashion center. by toys r us and best buy in paramus. its right behind the jag dealership. but again we would have to deal with mall traffic. so were going to talk to them but its not exactly our first pick... with the way their tables are set up inside and parking... it just doesnt seem to be the best choice.
Savage_Messiah
01-24-2005, 10:52 AM

Your average bennigans/ applebee's etc around us can not handle our typical gatherings...... 50+ people.
We need someplace that can handle around 50 people AND the parking.
Thinking...out loud I am seeing.....
Dave and Busters just over the border in NY
If we scheduled the event there I just found the following-
Your Event Planner is:
Mark Scott
845-353-1555
I am aware of this policy:
Guests under the age of 21 (legal drinking age) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (a person 25 years of age or older who agrees to be responsible for the conduct and safety of the underage guests). Our N. Bethesda, Philadelphia and San Jose locations enforce a year-round 11 p.m. curfew for guests under the age of 21.
One parent or guardian can accompany up to a maximum of four underage guests.
I am not sure if this applies during the day... like on a Saturday or Sunday around 1-2 pm..... I know it has been enforced in the evening... because I have been a shaperone of some of our members ;)
Failing that.....
Sports World on Route 17 North.....
Decent parking.....
http://www.sportsworld17.com/
But.... could be kinda weak.... mostly young kids there.....
There is Fuddruckers -
282 Route 4 East, Paramus, NJ 07652
Phone: 201-343-4533
They can handle our food requirements..... but parking is VERY weak....
Anyone..... post feedback...... idea's......
Requirements:
Must be able to handle a crowd of 50 people
Must be able to handle a crowd of 50 cars and allow us to pop hoods and BS
Median age of the group is..... 23? maybe 22...... so age limitations must be a factor....
Savage_Messiah
01-25-2005, 06:52 PM
sorry james but id give a big negative on sportsworld, from what i remember foods not too good, it can get boring, and way too many kids/gangstas.
Applebees in Totowa I know can handle the parking, its on 46 i believe, and even if theres overflow their lot is like an extension of a big supermarket complex type thingy. Just not sure as to the space inside and handling 50+ ppl

no englewood...dahm, lol...
i know of a nice burger king by a big parking lot, lol.
or houlihans(i think thats the place) at the riverside(?)mall by rt4 and hackensack ave.
but seriously, we need to possibly think on a more local level. for example like the tavern where the central jersey meets were at, well i was never there so i really dont know whats its like, but the tavern concept gave me ideas. I know a local tavern/restaurant that would fit us, but not the parking(30 max). maybe if anyone knows a good local restaurant we can look into that, we may be able to reserve it and not have to make deposits etc. and parking would be the main concern. ok for 50 people figure the place needs to have at least 15 tables that can be moved around. You get what im saying? i dunno, lets just try to keep the ideas coming

Kasey & I are planning to scope out some "tavern" like places on Saturday. Â*Im assuming our general location is within the vacinity of Paramus? One of the places Im eyeing has the parking area, but I havent been inside of it in a while, so I want to go inside of the places and look.
At Firkin they gave us our own party hall which was pretty neet and had PLENTY of space for the 40+ some people who went.

Ramsey & Mahwah: Friday's; Kinchley's; and The Mason Jar
Rt. 23 area: Applebee's in totowa; Maccaroni Grill; and Fudd's in wayne
finally the one id really like it at...

TGI Friday's in Ledgewood, NJ has INSANE amount of parking and could definetly support all of us from the meet. Also, highway front parking, so all the cars driving on rt. 46 will see all of our bitch'en f-bodies!

if u want it. talk to the manager there. see if hell help us out. but i really need an answer by the end of the week. the fridays that i went to wanted a set amount of money that everyone was going to spend. and were hinting at a down payment. so if u think this one wont ask for that then thats up to u to find out. i have no way of getting out there this weeek. and i do need to kno by wednsday/thursday. bennigans is more then willing to have us. id prefer not to lead them on and then let them go. at least not for a long period of time.

You have a date set already? Because I would think you need to give this people a date or time frame, and its best you go over it with the rest of the club.
my $.02 would be to time it with the over-lapping spring break in March
Just for an example some major school thats most of the members here attend to :
Bergen - 3/21 - 3/28
William Paterson - 3/13 - 3/21
Rutgers - 3/12 - 3/21
Rowan University - 3/12 - 3/21
See a pattern here?

well i was origionally told by tim and justin to shoot for the 12th or 19th... when i talked to the managers... everyone kinda refused to go the 19th because its so busy for st. patricks day.. so if we go with bennigans it wud be the 12th. gather at 2 as usual eat around 3. he doesnt care how long we hang out in the parking lot. his only req. was no burn outs.

For Mike :
What you need to think about when talking to the Managers
- Understanding Management
- Must have an indoor capacity for 40+ people together
- Reasonable food prices
- No down payments required
- Timing (saturday 12th)
- Parking lot size
- Eazy Access from the Parkway or Turnpike.
i just vote for something in the 201 area code  and saddle brook bennigans would be nice. Ive been to cars shows there a few years back and they have parking no problem. since lexi talked to them and its possible, that would be my choice. I'd rather not drive over an hour out on rt80 to exit 29. If others dont mind, thats ok, but id have to miss another meet then.
oh yeah, i paid off my SS yesterday and now waiting for the title in the mail, sorry, im still a little excited.. :fluffy:

the TGIF fridays would be great it's a huge parking lot and it's nice inside and the food is great. It's also really easy to get to. I will talk to mike about it maybe we will take a ride up there and check it out if he didn't already. I'll try calling him later today.

ahh sorry i didn't leave u my #...
Anyway heres the scoop on fridays...
The manager had no problem with us being there and he said they could definetly handle us. once again the parking lot is enourmous and its cool because we can park our cars facing outward onto Route 46 (main road in town) and everyone will see our cars.
However, he said because they are not requiring a depoist they can't gaurentee us the space but they said it really shouldn't be a problem if we are eating around 3pm. He said worse case scenario some people may have to wait a few mins. We will be in the same section but not seated at on gigantic table we will be spread thru-out the restuarant.
So if everyone is game PLEASE lemme know I would like to get this straight.
It would be:
March 12th Saturday Meet 1-2Pm, Eat 3pm
Fridays in Ledgewood, New Jersey.
Directions are simple:
Route 80 West, Exit 29 - Howard Blvd, Left at light, right at next light and you are there.
Give me some feedback.
Or other idea...

Fridays is exit 30 off of 80, not 29.

I'm personally leaning towards Bennigans just based on what happened the last time we had a meet at Applebees....same type of place, and it was mass confusion.
This may be a different circumstance, however I'd rather just go to Bennigans.
Anyone else who has a preference, please post up so that we know where you guys would rather go.

if the manager of fridays won't promise the spoace there is no way we can go there. we need a place that is excited to have us, not a maybe.
